WA- Jesus Avila(25), Yazmany Ortiz(25), Christian Rangel(19) - Seattle - 12 Dec 2010

3 Pierce County men sharing carpool missing since Sunday

Detectives at the Lakewood Police Department are investigating the disappearance of three Pierce County men, all of whom usually carpool to work in Seattle.

Jesus Bejar Avila, 25, of Lakewood, Yazmany Quezada Ortiz, also 25, of Tacoma, and Christian Alberto Rangel, 19, of University Place, haven't been seen since Sunday.

According to Lakewood police spokesman Lt. Chris Lawler, the three men left in Ortiz's pickup Sunday and made it to work at Lake Union Wholesale Florist at 414 Boren Ave. N. in Seattle. At 3:15 p.m., their shifts ended and they drove away together as usual.

But after that, no one saw them.

Police investigating disappearance of 3 Pierce County carpoolers

<snip>

The three clocked out at 3:15 p.m. Avila called his girlfriend, as he always did, to ask about dinner.

"He just called to see if I would be at the store so I could make something to eat," says Getsemani Ortiz-Torres.

The men are warehouse workers at Lake Union Wholesale Florist in Seattle, a respected, established business. Their tearful boss calls them "great kids" with no reason to skip town.

Rangel has a baby on the way. Bejar is married with a little boy who is the apple of his eye.

Also from Texas' link above:

The three men are all said to be here legally with no criminal backgrounds. They were all last seen together at an apartment complex off James Street in Kent. No one, though, seems to have any idea why they would have been there.

KENT, Wash. -- Ten days have passed since three men vanished on their way home from work.

No signs of the missing men have turned up, and their family members are heartsick at the thought of spending the holidays without them.

Human remains found in Kent may be missing men

Three families are waiting to hear whether the bodies found in Kent today are the remains of three men missing since December.

[snip]

Three sets of remains were found Thursday at Rainier Nursery in Kent. The facilities manager says itís a 50 acre property. The bodies were found in a remote area that employees do not frequent this time of year.

The nursery is just over a mile away from where their truck was found shortly after they disappeared.
