Lisa:

Thanks for keeping us updated. I wish CTV would televise it. Or were cameras ruled out?

New York State in its infinite wisdom let its ten-year experiment with cameras in the courtroom lapse. Still I wish they would cover the case with a reporter attending and giving updates. I have emailed them and asked. Perhaps if everyone who was interested did, too, it would help.

And you're welcome!

Didn't see this online so no link but will transcribe from the paper itself:

JAIL COPS GRAB PELOSI PAPERS

Police have searched Danny Pelosi's jail cell and confiscated the accused killer's letters and notes as well as piles of defense documents, sources said.

A search warrant was executed at the Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead last week -- while Pelosi was in court hearing a prosecutor tell the judge Pelosi allegedly confessed the 2001 murder of millionaire Ted Ammon to two jailhouse informants.

After the papers were reviewed by a judge not involved in Pelosi's trial, some documents were ordered returned to the defense because they are confidential lawyer-client materials, the sources said.

DETECTIVE SAYS INMATES OFFERED TO IMPLICATE PELOSI

by Robin Topping

Five inmates who gave prosecutors incriminating statements allegedly made in jail by Daniel Pelosi came forward on their own and made no deals with law enforcement to seek information from Pelosi, prosecution witnesses testified Thursday.

In a Riverhead court hearing to decide whether those statements can be used at Pelosi's murder trial, a homicide detective who interviewed the five said he did so only after they sought out authorities....

RAT REVEALS PELOSI 'BURNING' DESIRE

by Kieran Crowley

October 8, 2004 -- Another jailhouse rat claims Danny Pelosi was so worried about evidence police might find inside murdered millionaire Ted Ammon's mansion that he told him he "should have burned the house down."
The claim from informant Robert Hitt was read into the record at a hearing yesterday by Suffolk County Homicide Detective Vincent Daly, the lead investigator in the October 2001 slaying.

The hearing was ordered by Suffolk Supreme Court Justice Robert Doyle because Pelosi's defense is trying to throw out the snitches' claims, and tape recordings made by one of them.....

DOUBLE TROUBLE FOR PELOSI

By ROBERT GEARTY and BILL HUTCHINSON
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

A Grand Jury is mulling new charges against Long Island electrician Danny Pelosi, even as his attorney tried yesterday to keep six jailhouse snitches from testifying at his murder trial.
During a Suffolk County Court hearing, a prosecutor said a grand jury is considering indicting Pelosi on charges of intimidating a witness, tampering with a juror and threatening a prosecutor's two children....

Focus of L.I. Murder Trial Is on Words of the Accused
By PATRICK HEALY

Published: October 8, 2004

RIVERHEAD, N.Y., Oct. 7 - Daniel Pelosi is a talker. To anyone who will listen, he has denied the charges that he killed the Manhattan financier R. Theodore Ammon. He has telephoned reporters from jail. He has said he wants to testify to his innocence.

But during a pretrial hearing on Thursday in State Supreme Court, a police officer testified for the prosecution that Mr. Pelosi had jailhouse conversations with at least four fellow inmates in which he implicated himself in the killing....

PELOSI VID TWIST

by Kieran Crowley

EXCLUSIVE

Danny Pelosi's fiancée was caught on a secret video apparently passing cash to another person — and a Long Island grand jury is investigating whether it was part of the murder suspect's alleged plot to intimidate witnesses, sources said.

Jennifer Zolnowski, 27, of Center Moriches — who is the mother of Pelosi's 5-week-old son — was captured on the videotape at a fast-food restaurant last month, the sources said. ....

PELOSI'S FIANCEE'S TAPE TROUBLE

by Robin Topping

A videotape made last month shows the fiancee of Daniel Pelosi passing cash to a woman linked to Clayton Moultrie, the former inmate who secretly recorded Pelosi allegedly offering to pay Moultrie to beat up inmates testifying against him, sources close to the case said.

The video allegedly corroborates written statements and tape recordings made by Moultrie, who said Pelosi offered him $100 per tooth to knock out the teeth of inmates who are cooperating with prosecutors in Pelosi's murder trial. Pelosi also allegedly told Moultrie he intended to tamper with the jury and threaten the children of Janet Albertson, who is prosecuting the case....

Pelosi faces new indictments

Wed 13 Oct NEWSDAY

http://www.newsday.com/news/local/lo...ries-headlines

by Robin Topping

Even as his lawyers prepared to go forward with his often-delayed murder trial, Daniel Pelosi was arraigned Tuesday on a new 16-count indictment on charges including attempted assault of witnesses, attempted jury tampering, criminal solicitation and conspiracy.

Pelosi pleaded not guilty to the new charges, which came in the midst of a pretrial hearing on whether four inmates and a former inmate can testify against him about alleged admissions he made to them about the murder of Theodore Ammon and the new charges....

Snitch Hitter

Wed 13 Oct NY POST

http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/30231.htm

by Kieran Crowley

Murder suspect Danny Pelosi — from his jail cell — arranged to make at least three secret cash payments in a scheme to assault five jailhouse snitches, according to a new indictment.
Pelosi, 41, yesterday pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted intimidation of witnesses, attempted tampering with witnesses, attempted assault, conspiracy, criminal solicitation and attempted tampering with a juror.

The angry murder defendant, accused of the October, 2001 murder of millionaire Ted Ammon, had some choice words in open court in Riverhead about the new charges:

"We're going forward? They ain't got no goddamned case. If they had a murder case, they wouldn't use this bull- - - -." Inmate Raul Gonzalez took the stand in the hearing, which Pelosi's lawyers requested in an attempt to throw out informants' claims that Pelosi confessed to the killing and made other admissions on tape. ...

Charge Pelosi Muscled Stoolies, Targeted Jury

Wed 13 Oct NY DAILY NEWS

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/sto...p-207196c.html

BY ROBERT GEARTY and TRACY CONNOR
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

Danny Pelosi was hit with new charges of witness intimidation and jury tampering yesterday, prompting a courtroom outburst from the Long Island loudmouth.
"They ain't got no g--damn case against me," Pelosi groused before he was arraigned on a 16-count indictment. "If they had a murder case, they wouldn't use this bull----."

The eleventh-hour indictment was handed up on the eve of opening statements in Pelosi's murder trial, and his lawyer hinted it might be grounds for a mistrial.

"This is quite unusual. The prosecutors can't seem to contain themselves," said lawyer Gerald Shargel. "Obviously, I'm concerned what impact this might have on the jury."...

PELOSI TRIAL OPENS AFTER MANY DELAYS

by Robin Topping

Three years after Theodore Ammon's murder and on the heels of several twists in the case, attorneys in the Daniel Pelosi murder case gave their opening statements to the jury, delivering sharply contrasting portraits of the defendant.

Pelosi is a money-hungry schemer who brutally beat Ammon to death and married the millionaire's widow to gain his fortune, according to the prosecution. But, according to the defense, Pelosi is innocent and was caught up in a police investigation in which clues leading to other suspects were overlooked and evidence was lost....

UH OH, DANNY BOY

by Kieran Crowley

October 14, 2004 -- Danny Pelosi's own father will testify against him at his trial for allegedly slaying financier Ted Ammon, and admit his son sought advice on what to do with "something that you wanted to get rid of," a prosecutor said yesterday.
Robert Pelosi, a retired banker who hasn't spoken to his son in more than a year, will be among several witnesses to describe Danny Pelosi's admissions about Ammon's slaying, Assistant Suffolk DA Janet Albertson said in opening statements in Pelosi's trial....

Dead Man's Life Comes Under Scrutiny at Murder Trial
By PATRICK HEALY

RIVERHEAD, N.Y., Oct. 13 - Two trials began here on Wednesday morning. The official one was for Daniel J. Pelosi, a Long Island electrician charged with murdering the Manhattan financier R. Theodore Ammon.

But as Mr. Pelosi's defense delivered its opening statement, it became clear that Mr. Ammon's sexuality would also be on trial.....

If Ted Ammon had picked up a gay man to take home for an assignation that night, why would he have called a friend at 9:44 pm to say he had happened onto the cruise scene and found it disturbing?? That makes no sense at all.

It may be that the defense feels they have no choice, but revictiminizing the victim may not sit well with the jury.

This trial is gonna get ugly.

I agree Lisa, it's going to be really ugly. I caught the NY news yesterday, and it looks like Shargel is going to pull out all the stops. I think Pelosi is guilty, but I am interested in what Shargel will have to say.

The trial may get ugly, and I think it will only hurt the defendant. It sounds like the fastest jury deliberations in the history of our court system...

How long does it take a group of 12 people to say, "GUILTY!" Penalty phase, "What's the worst we can give him? Agreed!"

Seesch! This guy blabbed to anyone who would listen that he killed him! And then did even more damage to himself with threats, etc...
