Cold Case File: Fred Moseley

A Canyon teenager is reported missing and nearly 13 years later, police have yet to figure out what happened to him.

"It's as if he stopped in existence." said Canyon police officer Aaron Savage. Five years ago, re-opened the missing person case of teenager Fred Moseley."As a citizen of Canyon we just owed that to him." expressed Savage.

"None of his social security information has ever been used. His driver's license has never been used. He's never turned up on any criminal history. It's as if July of 1998, no one ever heard from Fred." said Savage.

"In 1998, we had an anonymous caller call into Randall County and say Fred was ok and whatever problems would have to e worked out within the family. The caller never identified himself, we sure would like to track down that person and have him talk to us and see where his information came from."

Mario was found guilty of capital murder yesterday and sentenced to life in prison - eligible for parole after 40 years.

What's going on with the case against Gerald Dooley? I've always felt like he was involved and he was. He posed as Fred's friend. Whatever happened leading up to Fred's murder, Dooley was just as guilty. Fred deserves justice.

Fred is still listed as missing, although I'm assuming he will never be recovered

<<At Campos's trial in the summer of 2013, Dooley testified about the murder in detail, saying Campos had strangled Fred with an electrical cord, and the two men dumped his body in a trash bin, concealed under a piece of cardboard. Campos was convicted of the murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Fred's body has not been found, but foul play is suspected in his case due to the circumstances involved.>>

<<In July 2013, Mario Bolestero Campos was found guilty in the 1998 slaying of Fred Charles Moseley and was sentenced to life in prison. Another man, Gerald Ross Dooley was given a ten-year sentence after he confessed to helping strangle Moseley and agreed to testify for the prosecution. Dooley told investigators that Moseley, who attended the Amarillo Christian School, was strangled during robbery on July 25, 1998, at the victim's home. The two then drove to Amarillo, Texas, and put Moseley's body in a dumpster in northwest Amarillo.>>
