VA - Emaline ("Emaly") Wantrobski, 16, Arlington, 9 Mar 2011
My husband saw this poster at a nearby coffee shop and took a pic with his phone to send to me. I've searched and can find very little info -- one posting on a FB page. I'll keep searching...

I think this is her myspace page, but there's really nothing of note on it. Doesn't even look like she uses it. She lists her age as 22, but lots of teens list themselves as older than they really are.

I found her FB page as well, but it's private and her Friends list is not visible.

I've called the officer's numbers but keep getting voice mail. I want to find out if she's still missing... I'll post when I reach him.
ETA: Just got off the phone with him - she is still missing.

I found another post on a cached social networking site (hope it's okay to post since there's absolutely nothing in MSM). Seems like they've tried to get it on the news but have been unsuccessful. I think a lot of MSM assumes these teens leave voluntarily and are okay. But it's been over THREE WEEKS... I would think most kids would get tired, hungry, whatever - and come home if they simply ran away and are fine. But there's no clue here as to if she ran away or was abducted, kwim?

This is my best friends daughter, if you see her please contact police immediately.

I'm coming up pretty empty handed too. I did find a church bulletin from St. Rita's Parish in Alexandria, VA from 2006 that lists an Emaline Wantrobski under Second Honors in the School News section. Still trying to find anything else that might be useful.

I'm going to call and see if I can get a case number...
ETA: I called the officer (again) on the flyer above, and he said that he has a file and case # but it's at his office and he has left for the day. He said he can get it for me tomorrow. I called the non-emergency # and they were not able to assist me. Hopefully, I can get it tomorrow. In the meantime, I'll keep searching for a MSM link.

I think it's ridiculous that the local newspaper or local TV stations can't give one article or a few minutes of coverage to Emily. I'm not expecting CNN, ABC, and FOX to come running into town but is some local coverage too much to ask for?
I noticed that she's missing from the DC area, and I have to wonder if in these high population metro areas (I'm from the NYC Metro), missing teenagers have a much harder time getting media coverage because there is just so much more going on in the area?

I'm getting the impression that Emaly is academically intelligent. First the mention in the church bulletin (above post) and now I found her listed on an Academic Team roster for Washington Lee HS.

I found an obituary for Emaly's uncle. Her parents' names are mentioned. Emaline appears to have been named after her paternal grandmother.

I don't know exactly how this should work, but if he has a file and a case #, shouldn't he have entered her into the Virginia State Police's missing persons database? Or a national database? I wonder who reported her missing and when the officer last spoke to her family about her. Is it possible she has been found and the officer wasn't notified?
This just seems very strange to me and there is zilch about this situation on the internet.

Okay, this is what I think. The officer seems to be located at the school - or, at least one of those numbers gave that impression but I could be wrong. I wonder if there was/is some sort of disconnect here between that location (?) and central office? Surely they have a standard procedure that is followed with missing persons. I will share this as well - the officer gave me the non-emergency number to call and said they should be able to look it up via her name, etc, if I didn't want to wait until tomorrow. I called the number but they could find nothing in their database and said I should just contact that particular officer tomorrow and get the case # from him.
I'm going to call him again in the morning.

I think the 571 number may be the officer's cell phone...?

Okay, I got the officer's voice mails this morning at both numbers so I called the non-emergency number again. I got a different person this time. Here's the case #: 110310031
ETA: I just spoke with the officer Queen. He said that she does have a NCMEC case b/c both he and her mother have spoken to them (he spoke to a representative just a couple of days ago) -- I still can't find it, though. He also mentioned another database as well and said that her mother was trying to contact local news stations but he didn't know anything more about that aspect of it. He also said that she did run away (or at least that's what they think) but it seems now that she's been gone so long it's getting more and more worrisome...
I feel for her family and hope she is found safe.

Glad you reached Officer Queen.
Is this the youth officer at school?
I wonder why mom has not reported her missing to the city police or county sheriff?
Most media will not report on a missing person unless they have law enforcement involvement.
And there are so many great organizations who could help make posters, get media involved, help the family, etc.
Just one example of what to do when a child goes missing link: http://www.ojjdp.gov/PUBS/childismissing/ch1ck.html

The mom has reported her missing - the officer is with Arlington County Police and that's what the case # is for. She is working with them. I mentioned the lack of media exposure and the officer said that he does not contact media.
I think there's simply no interest because she's classified as a runaway. I still don't get it b/c runaways can still fall into harm's way after leaving voluntarily, kwim?
