Earlier, I received an e-mail from Rick Jones of Clark County Coroner/Medical Examiner's Office. Ron Nordstrom and John "El Rancho" Doe are NOT the same person --

Hi Kathryn, Unfortunately, FBI came back with - not a match. I called FBI SPC and requested a check in case the prints were reversed on antemortem or postmortem fingerprint cards and she checked and there are catastrophic inconsistencies resulting in no match. Thank you so much for the help. I talked to the missing person detective and they are in the process of submitting family reference DNA to UNT who will upload it into CODIS. They may still get an ID soon.

I really think that someone would remember this guy -- (IMO) he had a very distinct look. I wonder if LE asked around at the hotels in the area if he could have been a guest who recently checked out?

I received an e-mail from Det. Brent Crosswhite of the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office (investigating Ron Nordstrom's missing person case) --

Thank you for your interest in this case. We have looked into the information you provided and have concluded that these two individuals are not the same person.

I like Coppola as a possibility. He's got a connection to Las Vegas and a reason to depart without leaving a forwarding address, so to speak. And once he absconded, he might easily have found himself with nowhere else to turn a few months later. If it's him, he'd have lost 50lbs or more. The photo of the UID shows that same frown and, though it might be an accident of the camera angle, the same attitude. The nose and brows seem to match. And while it's hard to make out in the photo, he may have a mole on his left cheek.

I e-mailed and asked if he had been compared with Ralph Coppola, something I had been thinking about for sometime. If he is, this would mean that Mr. Coppola was not murdered by Liborio Bellomo (which seems to be what a lot of people in New York believe happened to him). I received an e-mail from Kim M Law of NYS ViCAP stating --

Recently, I noticed Joseph Nero who is missing from Palgrave, Ontario. The height is off, the circumstances of his disappearance are --

Joseph Niro last contacted his daughter by telephone on 2 June 1999. He has not been seen since.
|
If the June 2nd date is correct, that would mean he went missing slightly less than two weeks before the unidentified man at the El Rancho was found, but the OPP Missing Persons website lists the date he was last seen as June 20, 1999.
He has dark hair and brown eyes, like the UID, and most of all, Mr. Nero reportedly has --
