Good article in the Indy Star this morning:

Following the last-known steps of Lauren Spierer

Quote:
That a young woman could disappear -- seemingly off the face of the earth -- from such a small area that was trafficked by people and vehicles even in the wee hours of the morning would seem to defy every probability. Especially in a city that, on the night of June 2 and the early hours of June 3, never really went to sleep.

Not blaming HT for speaking, but I, for one, question any part of the story that we have heard that is not documented on camera, or verified by another source such as CR's attorney.
It just seems to me that HT is way too personally involved with the players here and has plenty of motivation to color the events to protect herself and her friends. Nothing in her behavior throughout this debacle has reassured me that her primary interest is in the best interest of LS.

A little off topic perhaps... but I want to give a shout out to Bessie for all her hard work maintaining the LS threads and babysitting when we get a little unruly. This topic is much more work that many others for the Mods, and so I think she deserves some acknowledgment!

From the last thread:

"Not that I don't believe CR's memory loss, but there is no real way to check whether he actually has memory loss or remembers what he was doing that night."

Whether it's "real" is debatable, but I think a polygraph would be quite useful in that regard. He's taken one.

agreed. Very interesting that she choose to speaks out (with seeming authority, I might add, when she wasn't even an eyewitness) when it is convenient for her, but wants TG to LEAVE HER ALONE? An interesting contradiction. And her grammar continues to be atrocious, but that is MY issue....

I don't think we should necessarily believe these things either, including things that CR's attorney says. He or other lawyers may stretch the truth when speaking to the media - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/amitai..._b_864824.html. I doubt they would say something, though, that might have to get specifically contradicted in court.

Even assuming he took one, did he pass it? If he did take it and pass it, why hasn't his lawyer (the most vocal one of the bunch) said so?

Capt. Qualters did not respond to inquiries Friday about whether police were aware of, or had interviewed, Rosenbaum's visitor."

I'm copying this from the last thread so more people can see it because I think some of the developments in this story are very interesting...

It certainly doesn't sound like LE has talked to this unnamed visitor, despite this visitor almost certainly being one of the last people to see LS. This is not encouraging...why did it take 3 weeks for this to come out? I know they've (CR's lawyer) been saying 3 other people saw her after CR for awhile but I guess I always assumed it was more of a passive sighting-a neighbor of CR/MB/JR, someone who just saw her in passing. If JR's story that she was there until 4:30 is true, it seems like someone who was visiting JR would know (a lot) more that needs to be discussed with LE.

ETA: Another interesting, not necessarily important-but could be-part is:
"Rosenbaum had already run out of alcohol by the time Spierer and Rohn got to the apartment, according to Tamir." (This was in reference to LS's first visit to JR's, before the bar)

-Is she trying to come up with a reason that CR and LS would go out to the bar? Is she trying to make JR sound less culpable by implying that by the time LS would have gone back to his place later in the night that he wouldn't even have any alcohol/might have been more likely to be sober by that time?

JR had already run out of alcohol by the time Spierer and DR got to the apartment, according to HT.

http://www.lohud.com/article/2011062...news|text|News

June 7, 2011:
Fox 5 spoke with one of her college roommates who had quite a story to tell about the activities leading up to her disappearance. HT, of Long Island, said Lauren left a party with a group of boys.

HT said a mutual friend saw Lauren leaving the party.

I think, if CR's atty knew about JR's guest, so did LE. MO, and he may be a POI, we just do not know. The fact that this info is only being made public now, and not previously, says nothing about when it was known to LE. It does tell us that HT, once again, is supplying info to the public when she thinks it is a good thing to do so. Managing the message if you ask me, but that is just MO.

If he cannot remember what happened that night, how effective could the polygraph be? It can be a useful interrogation tool, but its not uncommon for polygraph to give mixed results.

Where are people getting the information about the hairdresser finding LS' keys? I didn't see that in the linked article... maybe I missed it?

What's clear is that Spierer, shoeless and phoneless and apparently serving as a crutch for her beaten friend Rossman, dropped her clutch purse and car keys shortly after emerging from the gaze of the alley's video cameras. The two items were found the next day by a hair stylist going into work.

wow- after re-reading my post, just noticed that these keys are described as car keys. Is this sloppy and assumptious (word?) reporting, or were there car keys? And does LS have a car, where is it now, where was it then etc...

I hope you're right that LE knew about the guest earlier and no, it coming out now doesn't necessarily mean that they didn't know of course. I don't feel very good about it though, considering that we already know that JR left town so soon after the disappearance, I'm assuming his friend did as well and therefore I don't feel optimistic that LE has spoken with him.

That's just me being cynical though. Not trying to be down on LE just that this case has been so confusing that I don't think we can feel good about all bases being covered. Hopefully it has just been confusing to us because they are not revealing a lot of things, and that's fine, but with the information we have I can't help but feel that it's incredibly convoluted, which makes it seem very difficult for LE to solve. It never sounds good when a new mention of someone to last see her is brought up to the public after 3 weeks. ETA: Unless they are bringing up this new information in connection with some answers.

I agree about HT managing the message.

Yes, and on June 7, 2011 Fox 5 reported that LS left a party at JR's as per HT (and they heard quite a story). Whether all of the alcohol had already been consumed prior to LS and DR's arrival or not, and whether other recreational drugs were then used or not, there was partying already going on at JR's according to HT.

Because then it completely closes responsibility from that angle and shifts it completely to JR. Suppose LE has acknowledged the results but has asked, in the wake of the investigation, for the lawyers to hold all comments regarding any results. Holding this information is different than an attorney just stating that his client had nothing to do with it. Maybe they are waiting for things to slowly leak out. We've learned a few things this morning from the MSM, I think. At some point something is going to give, someone will talk...

It's a good question for a verified attorney.. Can someone answer regarding holding info regarding actual LD results.

I don't want anyone to conclude that I dis-believe anything that HT tells the public or the media. I just have been saying since I don't understand her motives, I do not believe OR dis-believe her info. It is also possible that she is acting as a spokesperson for LE and the way they are leaking info to put pressure on various players. I don't have an opinion on her one way or another except that her motivation for delivering info to the media is entirely unknown to me.

Going back to when CR,JR knew she was missing.Wanted to re post a link on another story that covers it.
http://www.lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...=2011106110346
A friend said Rossman looked groggy but OK several hours afterward and was aware that Spierer was missing.Said he ran into Rossman at a CVS pharmacy the afternoon of June 3 and saw no redness or bruising on his face.

I think someone got in touch with them and got their story before the police report was ever filed. From HT comments I think it was her and I think she was originally trying to track LS down because she knew who she left with that night and knew her boyfriend was looking for her.

Perhaps, JR's out-of-town visitor was the first to leave town. Perhaps, he had a vehicle.
