Search continues for missing McLean man, Thomas Duesterhaus

Thomas Duesterhaus voluntarily left his Carlin Lane, McLean, home on June 17 and was “distraught,” police said.
The 37-year-old English teacher and youth minister had just found out his teaching contract at Bishop O'Connell wasn't renewed. The family says they learned it wasn't a criminal matter but didn't know much else. They're worried he's devastated.

Tom is a 37 years old white male, 6ft 3in, 190lb, with blonde hair & green eyes. He may be driving his 1999 blue Buick LeSabre with Virginia tags, XMT-8126.

Update: Family Of Missing Vienna Native, Bishop O'Connell English Teacher Tom Duesterhaus Asks For Help
Duesterhaus was last seen in Virginia Beach on Saturday morning.

Update 12:57 a.m. June 23: Some of Tom Duesterhaus' personal property has been found in a bag on Virginia Beach, according to one of his relatives, who posted a Facebook plea for help on Wednesday night.

Attendees of Wednesday's vigil are encouraged to bring friends and family, as well as candles, flowers, poems and pictures, in addition to any items they want. The event also states the vigil is intended to give students "a chance to keep [Tom] in our thoughts and keep the hope alive." And that, "it should be respectful and peaceful."

Rich Duesterhaus said he gets daily reports from the lead detective on the case. He said Police also think Tom is alive and spending time alone somewhere; they think they may find him when his car –which has not been recovered– turns up, Duesterhaus said.

Missing Teacher's Car Found in Rosslyn
An automobile associated with former Bishop O'Connell High School teacher Tom Duesterhaus, who has been missing for six weeks, was found Thursday in a commercial parking garage near the Rosslyn Metro station, Duesterhaus' family reported.
The car had been parked in the garage since June 17, the day he disappeared, according to his father, Rich.

It has been more than a year since a former teacher at Bishop O'Connell High School went missing, and still, there is no sign of him.
