GA - Stephanie Amerson, 33, Macon, 24 June 2011

This is another local case for me. From the articles I've read, the friends and family have had a very hard time getting any publicity for her case.

She was last known to have gone to Panama City Beach with a boyfriend who has a colorful criminal past..

Looks like she lives in Macon and went to PCB on a trip. That was my impression but I could be mistaken. It is her Macon friends and family who are desperately searching for her. It came up on my FB newsfeed from the local, Macon, news.

This is very much like another missing young lady here on WS, Alivia Kail. Her boyfriend has a colorful past as well:
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131801

Alivia Christine Kail is a 19 year-old- female, who has been missing from the Mt. Washington area of Pittsburgh since March 4, 2011. Alivia last told her family that she would be leaving for vacation in Florida with her boyfriend, Alexander (Alex)Lorenzi. Alivia has not been seen or heard from since the evening of March 4th. Alex was observed in the Pittsburgh area several days after Alivia went missing. Alex first reported to Alvia’s family that she had returned to Pennsylvania after their vacation. However, Alex has since told family and police that Alivia decided to stay in Florida, and he returned home to Pittsburgh. Allegheny County Police are treating Alex Lorenzi as a suspect in the disappearance of Alivia Kail.

I'm going to go with my own opinion/theory here that I did with Alivia's case as they are so similar.

Drugs/drug running is involved somehow.

MOO, IMO and all other disclaimers...

Amerson was last seen in the Panama City Beach area on June 24. She may be with a boyfriend, James Franklin Davis Jr., who has an extensive criminal record. Amerson doesn’t have a working cell phone or an active Facebook page, and was not working or attending school, according to her family and friends.

I detect a slant in reporting here- blame it on me being an english teacher. I feel that the family was probably interviewed with questions about Stephanie in the name of "trying to learn more about her" for the article, and then when their answers were reported, it was as if, "Stephanie was a nobody- even her family says so..." It doesn't say that of course, but that is how the article comes across to me.

I know, that's beside the point. But I definitely feel like this type of reporting is what separates the "hot" cases from the ones that disappear.

Oh, and I agree that this is so very similar to the case mentioned above.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office warrants division and the US Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force located and apprehended fugitive James Franklin Davis Tuesday afternoon, officials wrote in a news release. Davis is a registered sex offender. Found with Davis was Stephanie Amerson, 28, who had been reported missing from Georgia. Officials wrote in a news release that Davis may have kidnapped Amerson.

Can't remember where I saw it but hadn't she gone willingly and was with this criminal boyfriend on a binge down in PC? Glad she was found safe whatever the circumstance. I do however know that this James Davis she was with is some serious bad news!
