Have You Seen Her?

19-year-old Sha'Taura Duncan vanished two weeks ago, and on Wednesday night relatives are pleading for the public's help to find her.

The Duncan family is worried something has happened to the young mother, and a phone call she made to one of her friends is leading them to fear the worst.

Now that she has been missing since last month, Sha'Taura's relatives don't know what else to say to her 3-year-old son.

"When people come by, he'll look and he'll see if that's his mom, you know, 'Is that mommy? Is that mommy?'" grandfather Ronald Duncan told Action News.

As a teacher at Cooley High, Ronald knows teenagers, but he cannot begin to make senseofhisdaughter'sdisappearance.

On Tuesday, October 19th, Sha'Taura, who also goes by "Shay", went to her adult education class. She then never showed up to pick up her son from day care.

Ronald Duncan fears that something has gone very wrong.

"That she's met her demise, that something real bad like that has happened with not even going to the day care center to check on her son or pick him up," he said Wednesday. "That's not in her M.O. She doesn't do things like that. This is altogether different."

A friend of Sha'Taura's said she made a disturbing phone call to him a couple of days after she went missing.

"Part of that conversation was that she had made some wrong decisions, and she was somewhere where she could not leave," her grandfather explained. "I asked him did he think that she was in some kind of trouble, and he said that it sounded like she was in some kind of situation that she can't get out of."

The family hopes that someone, somewhere has seen something that could help lead them to the young mother.

"My wife the other day said, 'You know, we've never gone through anything close to this kind of crisis,'" Duncan said.

Sha'Taura, 19, stands 5'6" and weighs about 120 pounds. If you have any information, please call Detroit Police at (313) 596-1000.
