Found Deceased AZ - Mark Allen Mussack, 41, boarded bus in Vernal UT, 31 Dec 2011

VERNAL — Police are hoping the public can help them find an Arizona man who was last heard from after boarding a Greyhound bus in Vernal, UT on New Year's Eve.

Mark Allen Mussack, 41, was dropped off at the bus stop on Dec. 31 by his wife, Shonna Luck. The couple has been separated for three years, and Mussack had just driven a rental truck from his home in Tempe to Vernal with the couple's 9-year-old son and some of his wife's belongings.

Mussack is 6 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 200 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information about him should call the Vernal Police Department at 435- 789-5835.

Mussack sent text messages to his wife and a friend while he was on the bus, and also called his mother in Tempe, said Vernal Police Sgt. Vance Norton. Cell phone records also place Mussack in Denver, which was one of the Greyhound stops on the way to Arizona, the sergeant said.

It looks like him to me. The profile says he's interested in 12-step recovery. Maybe he had a relapse in Denver--it sounds like his bus was passing through there on New Year's Eve and he may have been somewhat depressed after leaving his son at his ex-wife's home. I do hope he's okay.

It is very possible he had a relapse or that he may have decided to take some time to himself and enjoy the outdoors although his family says that it's not like Mark to take off like this. I do hope he is alright.

It does not look like Mark was unhappy with his life, although it's hard to tell from just one photo.

Mark seemed to be devoted to his Mom who was sick and undergoing treatment for cancer. He was the one taking her to her appointments. That breaks my heart for both of them.

Hoping for the best and that Mark just needed a break, for whatever reason.

Mark Allen Mussack, an SCA member from the Barony of Atenveldt has been reported missing. He was last seen December 31, 2011 when dropped off by his wife at a Greyhound bus station in Vernal, Arizona. Mussack was traveling to Denver, Colorado.

It does appear that Mark's bus would have made a layover in Denver....I can't research past dates, but the same schedule for this weekend has a one hour layover in Denver. That would put him in Denver at 11:25 pm.

Doesn't really seem like anyone is seriously looking for Mark and that makes me very sad.

So, it sounds from one of the articles like they believe that Mark made it to Denver. He had a lay-over in Denver on his way home to Arizona. Greyhound does not keep track of passengers getting off, so there is no way to know if he was on the bus after the lay-over?

What could have happened to him? This is very strange. I wonder if he was depressed after taking his son back to his estranged wife; and maybe was feeling down after seeing his wife again. They have been separated for 3 years, but they are not yet divorced.

I worry for his mom. I hope that he is found soon; and that he is alright!

Latest update shows that it IS him getting on the bus in Denver, but there is no sign of him getting off the bus anywhere in NM. His wife says the AZ police are now going to do some more investigating as well.

According to the greyhound site, that would put him in NV around 7am. That doesn't seem like too dangerous a time.
Also according to the greyhound site, the driver would change in las Vegas. I worry that we may not really know if he did or didn't board the transfer bus in Vegas, since the new driver wouldn't have recognized him.
I find it unlikely that this is just a case of falling off the wagon. He hasn't touched his bank account. Sounds like family and friends really care about and love Mark.....really hoping they get some answers soon.

The woman (Shonna) posting on Mark's "Find Mark" Facebook page says she is Mark's wife but according to articles they had been divorced for 3 years. She doesn't even have him listed on her friends list...not that I can tell.

So Mark got on the bus in Denver, but did not arrive/get off in Albuquerque.
The only stop in between is Las Vegas, NM.

He was last heard from on New Year's Eve as he passed through Denver on a bus ride home from Vernal, Utah. He had driven a rental truck full of his estranged wife's belongings to her Utah home as he took his 9-year-old son back after a holiday visit.
