Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday in Platte County in the capital murder trial of a man accused of raping and killing nine year-old Rowan Ford in November of 2007. After the jury is selected, they will be sequestered and imported to Phelps County, where the trial was moved on a change of venue.

A mistrial was declared last May after attorney's on both sides could not agree on a jury in Phelps County and the number of potential jurors left to choose from were limited due to many of those called saying they were familiar with the case due to widespread media coverage.

Sometimes it is hard to believe that we as a world moved on from this case. I hope the time has finally come for Rowan to get back some of her dignity.

Ack, more delays! I am anxious for this trial to start, curious as to how it will play out since there has been no reports of the pre-trial proceedings due to the gag order. I take it David Spears will testify against Collings and vice versa since the trials were severed. I am thinking it will turn in to a he said/he said/he did it/no, he did it fiasco and hopefully not enough reasonable doubt will be raised so both of them can be put in prison and Rowan will have justice. JMO

A jury has been seated for the capital murder trial of one of the men accused of raping and strangling nine year-old Rowan Ford in November of 2007.

Barry County prosecutor Johnnie Cox says the jury of seven women and five men (there are four alternates) for Christopher Collings' trial were sworn in about 6 this evening (03-09-12.) Opening statements will begin Monday with testimony slated to begin either late Monday or Tuesday.

Rowan Ford murder trial underway

ROLLA, Mo. — Opening arguments in the Chris Collings trial began this morning after jury selection was completed.

Johnnie Cox, Barry County prosecutor, told jurors that Collings, 37, abducted Rowan Ford, 9, from her home in Stella on Nov. 2, 2007, drove her to his home east of Wheaton in Barry County and sexually assaulted her there.

I'm having a hard time with the claim CC drank 30 Smirnoff Triple Black's within a few hours then smoked a joint and drove. I asked my husband if he thought that was possible and he said no, he thought he would be passed out if not dead! He said the Smirnoff's (12 oz. I assume) have more alcohol per volume than a beer. I realize CC is a big guy but still...

FBI special agent testifies in Collings trial

ROLLA, Mo. — An FBI special agent testified today that Chris Collings told him three days after the disappearance of Rowan Ford on Nov. 2, 2007, that he thought the girl’s stepfather, his friend David Spears, was involved in the crime.

Does anyone remember the name of the deputy who was lowered into Fox Cave by Michael Hall? TIA. Oh, and does anyone remember which officer said he was playing a hunch and thought her body would be there? IIRC one of them knew Collings pretty well.
