Just a little tip that my mom told me a long time ago. I believe she took a self defense class and the police man showed them a picture of a city street and a picture of a creepy desolate forest. Where would you rather die? He told them that if someone ever tries to threaten you with a gun or knife and make you go with them, you fight and tell them they'll just have to shoot or stab you right there in the street or parking lot. You have a better chance of survival, being found, and LE catching the perp.
It certainly would have helped Mickey.

it can be done. Watch the live feeds at 3 am (assuming it was dumped right after she was abducted) there is like zero traffic there at 3 am. And I don't know but it seems like they were really pushing it by where it is because a local would know that people go there to fish and etc. Abducted Mickey -maybe not a local. Maybe took the bike maybe not. Whoever dumped the bike is probably not a local. A local knows that's a fishing spot and on big old memorial day weekend!?

I believe she was referencing the fact a bike is such a liability to an abductor.

Definitely look up the show transcript. It's worth a read. I don't know what date it aired, but you should be able to find the link to the transcripts on JVM's website.

We don't know where the bike was found. If it was in the woods, then there should be footprints, yes, in the grass between the little road under the bridge and the woods. Very possibly there are footprints.

Ok, I've read Every. Single. Post. on these boards here since this happened and heard many theories but I am still stuck like glue on my initial theory.

I think it's possible the car and the white truck were working in tandem.

I see them both as predator sharks. The pond they're initially swimming in is over there near 100 Ryan Street. Watching. Waiting. It's their home pond and they know it real well. They know there's an especially appealing potential prey that rides a bike many times late at night, with flashing lights on it. Heck, they could have both been parked at that old Langlinais grocery across Congress Street from Ryan when she took off.

I think they (or just one of them) followed her and abducted her. They didn't have to take the exact route; they could have taken Congress up to University knowing they would intersect at some point. No goods, up to no good, at 2 am in the morning, waiting for marks. Local. No nefarious serial killer involved, just really bad actors that live in the area.

Again, I fall back on Occam's Razor. She was in proximity to a really really bad area of town right across Congress Street from Ryan Street. An area where people watch, a lot. Chicken Fried, I'd like your take on this, you know the area.

Such an unfortunate confluence of events in Lafayette.... kids partying for graduation, the carnival, with lots of strangers, and then the anime convention.....

I hope I don't offend anyone, but there is a very twisted side to anime, and a certain violent pornographic element. My cousin was into anime and he was an odd duck. If I were to pick between the carnys and the amine folk for a stranger abduction, I pick anime every time.

It may have already been mentioned...
It is always possible that someone found the bike abandoned and stole it... then panicked when they realized who it was connected to.
Especially if the person who took it already had a criminal history which might make them look suspicious.

We had a case in Utah where a girl disappeared on her bike.
They did not know where she went because they couldn't find her bike.

Ultimately someone came forward and said they had taken the bike after finding it abandoned at a hiking spot.
Instead of calling to report an abandoned bike... they stole it. They ultimately came forward and searches were done in the area.

She was found deceased from a fall.
It was a simple hiking accident... but she didn't die instantly.
Had those people not taken her bike... she may have been found alive.

Obviously Mickey didn't go for a hike...
But if she was abducted and her bike WAS left... it's possible someone unconnected stole it before she was reported missing.

Yes, this. It could be a case of "Look over here!" to send the searches looking in the wrong place. Or not - and that's the problem. All speculation.

I'm not the only one who's seen that Caddy during my daily travels. That means he's out there, and may not even be aware that the police want to know what he may have seen. I'm spreading the word among the blacks because I am convinced that the driver is black, and they are shaken up, too. A local girl is a local girl.

As far as roads... yes.... little ones. He could have come all the way down from Krotz Springs on the levee road (975) on the east of the river. He also could have taken 105 on the west side. What he couldn't have done very easily, without risk, is to stop on I-10 and pitch it over. As said upthread, he could have done it at 3 a.m. But maybe it wasn't 3 a.m. Any other time, he gets a semi up his butt if he stops there.

I was thinking along those lines too. A Z71 is a 4 wheel drive truck, perfectly capable of making the drive up and down from under the bridge and would have certainly left tire tracts.
