IN-Pendleton SWAT situation resolved, two dead

Police say two people are dead and two officers were injured in an exchange of gunfire late Thursday night.

A New Castle man, believed to be the suspect who shot two officers and a police K-9 in Pendleton, was found dead Friday morning. He was identified as Jim Kenneth Bailey, 58.

Another man, termed an innocent victim who was driving in the wrong place a the wrong time, was also dead at the scene. Police have identified him as John Neal Shull, 48. They believe he was shot in the initial round of gunfire, possibly before police arrived at the scene and before they returned fire.

Neal Shull, 38, was on his way home when Bailey shot him, according to police. Bailey died of a gunshot wound that may have been self-inflicted. A police K-9 named Kilo was also killed in the shooting, and two officers were injured.

Pendleton shooter had threatened ex-wife, co-workers

When Kenneth James Bailey showed up at his estranged wife's Pendleton home Thursday, he was heavily armed with a Romanian-style fully automatic rifle, numerous magazines and a .40 Glock pistol with an extended magazine.

"He was wearing a flak jacket. Now I do not know if that was bullet resistant. He also had a gas mask, leather gloves, and of course all of his ammo and his weapons....he meant business" said Pendleton Police Chief Mark Farrer.

Officers fired shot that killed police K-9 in Pendleton shootout

The Anderson Police Department says a police K-9 fatally wounded in a Pendleton shooting Thursday night was killed by fire from police officers.........

When Officer Dulworth was shot, his K-9 Kilo mistook one of the officers for an aggressor, biting him several times. The officers found themselves faced with a confused K-9 and an armed suspect firing upon them. .............

Sorry to hear about the dog, Kilo, and the passerby.

As for Bailey, that's what happens when you start shooting at people; you can end up not walking away. Whether he shot himself or was shot by LE, a lot of money was saved by not having to have a trial.

My Facebook page; I am grateful for the fact that two people who joined had colonoscopies, discovered cancer and are on the way to healing through treatment. Colonoscopies save lives!
