CO - Jessica Ridgeway, 10, Westminster, 5 Oct 2012 - #13
Continue the discussion here.
The Latest:
Quote:
Date – October 18, 2012
In an attempt to uncover any lead that may help identify the individual responsible for the abduction and subsequent murder of Jessica Ridgeway; authorities are asking the community to try and remember anything that was suspicious or out of place near the Ketner Lake Open Space during the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Due to the time frame and geographic proximity of Jessica’s disappearance and the attempted abduction near the Ketner Lake Open Space, police are trying to determine if there is any connection between the two cases. The suspect from the attempted abduction at Ketner Lake on May 28, 2012 was described as follows:
• Light skinned male
• 18 – 30’s (or someone who’s appearance with a ball cap may look that age)
• Brown hair
• Medium build
• 5’06” to 5’08” (Height can vary above or below these approximations)
Westminster police and assisting law enforcement agencies have been unable to associate any vehicle in either of these incidents. Several metro area law enforcement jurisdictions are working other cases of attempted abductions and various vehicle or suspect descriptions have been provided. In regards to Westminster’s cases, we only have the above description to provide.
Working with the FBI and the Behavioral Analysis Unit we are asking the public to call us if anyone around you changed their behavior, acted unusual, failed to show up for a family activity or other change that was unusual. We are specifically looking for these behavior changes on October 5, 2012 and days after Jessica’s disappearance and the Memorial Day weekend.
Tips can be given to the Westminster Police Department tip center by calling 303-658-4336 or by sending an email to: PDamberalert@cityofwestminster.us

I'm going off to snoop some more. Looks like Fort Morgan is about an hour and a half away from Westminster, straight up I-76?

I think LE is asking about the Memorial weekend assault in a "just in case" way. They can't say it is not connected without more info, as they must have had in the cases they HAVE ruled out or believe not to be connected to Jessica, so the wise thing to do is get as much info as possible.

While researching similar cases, I came across this one:
http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/20...ng-questioned/
How awful, and eerily similar to Jessica's...I am going to study this case further and see what I can learn about the perp, see if anything comes to me.

I'm sure I'm way out there on this and hopefully already ruled out but... The morning she disappeared she was supposed to meet her male friend to walk with ( I read usually his older brother too). She called to confirm that he would still walk wit her. Why would the dad who ended up taking his son to school (her friend) not drive back the couple of blocks to see where she was? I would have! Not blaming just think it's odd.

You right, cluciano, I'm sure. I am just very encouraged that they have found at least one that holds some hope of advancement!
Bless them all ~ I think LE prolly is as vulnerable to PTSD as our soldiers are!

If this IS related to Jessica's disappearance, then could the perp have been somewhere else over the summer? Would be interesting if there were any other incidences during that time. Someone in school/college?

Not way out there by any means. In one of the earlier threads, this was brought up by quite a few posters (me being one of them). I definitely thought that was odd as well. I'm not blaming either, just noted it was odd.

If these kids were friends the parents should know each other. I would have been worried that she never showed up! He may have reported it to school but I would have went to her house.

Yes, many of us thought that was weird. But apparently, whatever the actual story is, LE hasn't found it suspicious. So I can only assume they have details that we don't that makes it all fit.

Pure speculation on my part....but perhaps there was some type of chemical detected on Jessica's remains that would cause LE to think it may be the same chemical that was used in the Memorial Day abduction attempt?? MOO

I don't have much to add, but a few pages back in the old thread there was talk of the release of information from the DMV. I work for the state DMV here in Nebraska and it is a federal law that you cannot release any personal information, ie: name, DOB, SSN, driver's license number, addresses, phone numbers etc without the driver's written permission. It is a strict rule that we follow here, I obviously can't speak for other state's, however, it is made very clear to us that if we release any of that information, we could be immediately terminated.
Anywho, don't know that that piece of information will clear anything up for anyone, but felt like I actually had something that I could really contribute!

Generalization: men don't worry like moms do.
I'm not saying there aren't fathers who are sensitive and think the way the moms out there do and would check such a situation out, but overall fewer men think that way.
It's a tragic mistake, but ultimately she was snatched and spirited away and it was probably already too late at that point. I'm sure this father is kicking himself for not trying to find out why she didn't make it to their meeting spot. Each error compounds to a tragic end. I'm now of the mind that no child (under the age of 13) should be walking anywhere by themselves--it's just too randomly dangerous.
