The Joliet police are searching for a missing mother of three whose boyfriend said she stole a load of his cash and one of his handguns, investigators said.

Linda Fellenbaum, 33, had moved in with the boyfriend about two months ago and was last seen departing his 3608 Crockett Court home on foot, said Joliet police Cmdr. Brian Benton.

Not only was she on foot, said the missing woman's mother, Deborah Barr, but she was barefoot, having left her shoes behind in the boyfriend's house.

"Relatives (told investigators) she has been missing before, but for her to be gone this long and not call her kids is not like her,” Cmdr. Brian Benton said.

Fellenbaum, a mother of three, originally is from Rockford and has been known to frequent Hinsdale and the Chicago area in addition to Joliet. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call police at 815-724-3100 or anonymously call CrimeStoppers at 800-323-6734.

Was she suicidal? Why has she disappeared before? So many questions...

Something doesn't sound right...

If I have the story right, her boyfriend goes to the police five days before she went missing to claim that a large sum of money and a handgun was missing from his house, and that he believes Linda took it. When she came home, he confronted her about it and she fled the house with none of her personal belongings, and without any shoes on. A neighbor witnessed her leave. Then four days later her sister reports her missing after no one had heard from her since she fled the boyfriend's house.

Something I think is worth a mention, is that her boyfriend was booked into the county jail in March 2011 on charges of aggravated battery and battery. Were they together at this stage?

Very concerning, seeing as she hasn't contacted her family, especially as she has three young children. Although, if her boyfriends story checks out and she did have a large sum of cash and a handgun, maybe she's mixed herself up in a bad situation and is on the run from something?

ETA: That story is only in one of the articles. The other was more vague and said she was out walking when she disappeared. Very odd.

Are we allowed to discuss what her missing FB page is saying? I know we can't direct quote but I wasn't sure about talking about something the page owner is saying. The page seems to be ran by a family member with the same last name as Linda. She is saying they believe foul play is involved. They must have insider info. I have looked high and low and so far not much info. Some reports are a bit conflicting.

Hi wantjustice....yes you can relay information from the FB but you can't quote it word for word here. And we can't sleuth anyone who isn't named as a suspect. That's my understanding.
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about this case. Poor Linda. I'm worried for her...

This is such a shock, I went to high school with Linda! I've been following the Katrina Smith case, as some friends that went to school with Linda, also know Katrina! I don't think these cases are connected at all, it's just such another shock to the Rkfd community. Linda is such a great person, devoted mother & friend, totally out of character for her. I don't know if I can follow here much, as my heart is just hurting too much. I am so far away, I wish I could join the search in Joliet!

hmmm... this is a strange one! altho to me, with a history of violence, i'm wondering if the gun/money thing could have been something that was done to make police think these things were stolen in case they find her (not alive) somewhere & match any bullet wounds to the gun. ughhh i hope she has just run off but something tells me this isn't so.

That site has been mentioned in a few other cases here just recently. I think 2 other missing girls have meetme in common as well.

I am so sorry! I can't even imagine knowing someone who goes missing! And now there are two young ladies missing in the same area. I just can't see these two as going off on their own either

Mamacita, I was wondering the same thing! Reporting that she stole the money and gun to make it look as if she is desperate and/or suicidal. I think it is a ploy. IIRC it wasn't even that residence that she was staying out that reported her missing from the news media it was her family after she had been missing for 4 days. She has 3 kids so I think she'd check in not just disappear.

This is strange. There are some really really rough area's in Joliet. As rough as some bad area's in Chicago. I don't about the area from which Linda is missing but that the alert KivaSupporter posted, mentions she left on foot with no shoes and left her cell and car behind?

No way is someone (recently) from Hinsdale gonna move to Joliet and then go out barefoot leaving their car and cell phone behind in October two short months after moving to Joliet. No way, no how.

Really, she took off with a gun and money? GMAB. If a gun is missing, I am going to go out on a limb and say I think it could be a murder weapon disposed of.....

more thinking outloud..... I might have bought the missing gun and money story, IF Linda had left with her cell and cell/car. I do not, for a second, buy that she ran off with money and a gun leaving her cell, car and shoes behind.

My heart is breaking for her kids the most..... I don't think this is going to end well, sadly.

Her children are living in various places, without her.... It appears as if she might have custody of the youngest, but the older children are with others.

After reading the above article, I have to consider the possibility of the missing gun and money as part of a substance abuse problem. That is a valid reason someone might take off without their shoes, leave their car and cell phone and take off.

Need to look for more info. Kind of on the fence with this one right now... especially since her mother/family is saying she has gone missing before.

None of her problems negate the need to find her. I just hope she is ok and is found safely soon.

MOO and speaking in general, children's safety and well-being should be the number one priority. Period! Too often, it is not.

May I say that there are many families who would love to adopt children. I am one of those women who would do anything possible to have a child, and I would love adopt one. I would give this child much love and provide a good life for him or her. That is what each and every child deserves.

My heart aches for those children who are suffering for whatever reason. And my heart aches for the potential parents who are unable to have children.

May God help us all. (Apologies to those of you who do not believe)
