Bizarre TN murder case

Police said a man living in a closet at his married girlfriend’s house was charged Tuesday with brutally beating and killing her husband after snoring sounds tipped off the victim to the arrangement.

"From time to time, you come across a case with very unique — even bizarre — circumstances," Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron said. "This one probably rates right up there with them."

Detective Brad Corcoran said his investigation discovered that Martha Freeman allowed Rocha-Perez to live in a closet of her four-bedroom home for about a month without her husband’s knowledge.

Jeffrey Freeman discovered Rocha-Perez late Sunday night when he came home and heard him snoring.

Authorities said Freeman ordered his wife to get Rocha-Perez out of the house while he went for a walk.

Martha Freeman told authorities when her husband returned, Rocha-Perez confronted him with a shotgun and forced him into a bathroom where Jeffrey Freeman was severely beaten. An autopsy was under way Tuesday, but investigators said Freeman had significant head injuries.

Police declined to say whether the husband knew the suspect before the incident.

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

Police say 35-year-old Rahael DeJesus Rocha-Perez of Brentwood, Tennessee, had been living in his girlfriends closet for a month - without her husband's knowledge.

Martha Ann Freeman surrendered to police Monday after being indicted on first-degree murder charges in the death of her husband earlier this year.

Police said Martha Freeman waited 18 hours before telling anyone what happened to her husband. They said she even ran some errands during the day on April 11th before asking one her neighbors to call police and tell them about the attack.

Martha Freeman, 40, has been released from jail on $75,000 bond.

Rafael DeJesus Rocha-Perez, 35, was arrested the day Jeffrey Freeman’s body was found and charged with criminal homicide. He has been in jail since his arrest.

Both Martha Freeman and Rafael Rocha-Perez are scheduled to go before a judge on August 31st.

Four months after testifying that she listened from the next room as her lover beat and choked her husband to death, Brentwood private investigator Martha Freeman was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with his death.

The case drew nationwide media attention amid allegations that Freeman's lover had been living in her walk-in closet for a month before police said he killed the woman's husband, Jeffrey Freeman.

Unhappy

I was trying to paste part of an article about this case but it's disappeared. One bizarre thing about this case (ok, there are a lot of bizarre things about this case....) is that Mrs. F met these 3 strangers (Rocha-Perez was one of them) at the 4th of July fireworks show downtown, invited the 3 men back to the hotel where she was staying, had sex with them and then moved back to her upscale home and packed Perez along with her. Mr. F called his mother every Sunday evening without fail but on this Sunday after he was killed, Mrs. F called her instead, saying he couldn't come to the phone.
After all of this happened, a neighbor took in their dog (there's a pic posted of Mr. F and this dog in the news somewhere) at Mrs. F's request.
I can't help but wonder where it wound up at in all this craziness - and how Mr. F's mother's doing.

Thanks,Connie

Geez...just when you think that you have heard it all...It sure takes a lot of nerve to have your boyfriend living in your closet... Even if I thought that I might be able to get away with it, I would never do something that risky!

Why didn't the wife make her boyfriend leave and then just make up a lie to her husband? She should be convicted of his murder, too.
