Jeff Cook said he and his son spent the day together, first having breakfast at a local Waffle House and then riding their bikes to a few sports bars. Later that evening, he got a text message from his son letting him know he was home.

"We later learned that he went back out with some friends, and he texted me again that he was back home. Later on that evening, he was missing. We didn't hear from him," he said.

Brad Cook's bike was found late Sunday night near CR Cycle Tires in De Soto. That was when his family reported him missing.

Family seeks clues to missing son's mysterious disappearance
October 24, 2013

Quote:
DeSoto, KA - A 22-year old Olathe man missing since Sunday night left behind at least one important clue: his custom 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Brad Cook's father Jeff found the bike parked on a sidewalk, unlocked and seemingly abandoned on Sunday night just hours after his son took off in a rush from the home he shared with his sister. The elder Cook knew then that something was amiss.

"To see it unattended, unlocked here in DeSoto late Sunday night, Monday morning was just unusual, abnormal for him," Jeff Cook told 41 Action News on Thursday.

Father and son had spent the day riding around Johnson County. That night, Brad went back out with friends before texting his father that he was home around ten. At ten fifteen, he left again-- peeling out of his driveway and leaving behind his wallet and cell Phone.

From 10:15 to 10:37 is not a lot of time...how far is it from his house to where the person left his motorcycle?

At 10:37, a liquor store surveillance camera captured Brad's bike- with an unknown rider- pulling up onto the sidewalk.

Any FB page?

Left wallet and cell phone at home - so someone picked him up?

Says he spent the day with his father, went back out with friends and returned to his sister's house where he lives, texted his father to say he was home, then left on his motorcycle in a hurry without telling anyone.

Looking for other links, but at least one article described him as "peeling out" when he left. And that they checked his phone and there were no texts or calls from anyone.

I'm particularly interested in who was on the back of his bike in the surveillance video.

Brad’s phone didn’t show any calls or texts that reveal information about what happened to him. His motorcycle was found at about 1 a.m. on Oct. 21, and video footage showed he didn’t enter the tavern that it was parked outside of.

What does that mean, "peeling out"?

Seems strange that a young guy would go out like that and leave his phone and his wallet, and not lock up his expensive custom bike. Hopefully LE are looking at his phone to see who contacted him to make him go out once he was home.

Me too. This is really perplexing. Left without telling his twin too.

ETA: video is unclear per a previous link - the FB PAGE comment from yesterday.

Brad Cook left home in Olathe on Oct. 20 without taking his cellphone or wallet. Shortly afterward, someone — possibly Cook — parked his motorcycle at a strip mall in De Soto. Cook hasn't been seen since and his bank shows no financial activity.

The Kansas City Star reports (http://bit.ly/17rHvJC ) Cook worked for a construction cleanup company and took business classes at Johnson County Community College.

His father, Jeff Cook, says his son seemed fine in the hours before he disappeared. He says Brad Cook wasn't depressed and none of his guns is missing.

Searchers used a helicopter, horses, a kayak and trained dogs but found no clues to Cook's whereabouts.

There is nothing to base this on at all, but in thinking of him peeling out (jumping on his cycle and hitting the gas aggressively instead of calmly?) right after he got home, my first thought was he realized something was missing. Something stolen from him, perhaps? Or that he bought something and realized he didn't get what he paid for? Again, nothing really to base this on.
