FAMILY and friends of a Sunshine Coast man who has been missing for two months fear he is living on the streets of Brisbane after suffering a breakdown.

Michael Caesar has only been seen once since he left his elderly mother's Maleny home in November, although he phoned his two young children on Christmas Day.

Friends said the 46-year-old personal trainer had been stressed before he disappeared but it was out of character for him not to keep in touch.

A "fitness fanatic" and keen marathon runner, Mr Caesar has lived with his mother for about six years.

"He's not the sort of person who would simply decide to disappear. His mum believes he may be suffering from stress-related illness and is desperate to see him again.

"He rang his children from a payphone on Christmas Day and alluded to the fact he was in Brisbane. He might be volunteering with a charity group because he's done that in the past."

Mr Caesar is 180cm tall with an athletic build, blue eyes and thinning grey hair.
