Fisk father, daughter murdered: One suspect in custody, one suspect dead

By DONNA FARLEY ~ Staff Writer
Three Fisk residents are dead this weekend following a Tuesday confrontation that escalated into violence.

Evidence from the x-rays and autopsies of Terry Yates, 39, and his 10-year-old daughter, Emily Pearl Yates, have shown that investigators are dealing with a horrendous double homicide, said Larry Cotrell, Butler County Coroner.

The Butler County Sheriff's Department is currently holding Brandon McGill, 19, of Fisk in connection with the homicides.

"He has been charged with first degree burglary and armed criminal action," said Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs, "But we anticipate that will eventually be upgraded to felony murder."
A body believed to be that of a second suspect, Jeremy Conover, 20, of Fisk, was found at 3 p.m. Saturday on the St. Francis River levy.
