AL - Willie Mae McGuire, 53, Troy, 29 Oct 2005
Missing Troy Woman
8:29 AM Nov 8, 2005
Police are searching for a Troy woman who was last seen visiting a friend at the Brundidge Retirement Center.
53-year-old Willie Mae McGuire Slaughter was last seen October 29th and family members have not seen or heard from her since.
document.write('');Her disappearance is especially concerning because she depends on seizure medication.
Authorities have tried to find her using helicopters and search teams. Family members and friends have posted fliers and searched by foot. But all the efforts are turning up very few leads.
Troy Police Sgt. Benny Scarbrough says to "let us know of any knowledge of any time an individual saw her. Small things to a lot of people may not seem to be important, but to us, it may be very critical."

Update On Missing Woman
Willie Mae McGuire Slaughter was reported missing by her family two days before Halloween. But now, authorities believe they've found the woman affectionately called, "Pumpkin" by her family and friends.
Orange spray paint, and small flags line the area, where authorities believe Willie Mae McGuire slaughter's 1990 Geo Prizm slid off the road, onto this embankment and into this wooded area, where it hit a tree.
document.write('');Brundidge Police Chief Moses Davenport says, "We know for a fact that she pulled it back onto the road but it also appears that she came on across from the road, but maybe she was out of control of then, even though she ran off the first time, we're not for sure"
Slaughter's family members stood around as a tow truck took the wrecked car and the coroner took what's believed to be slaughters body from the wooded area. But even though this street has cars going and coming, and a golf course, and a Wal-Mart distribution center, the thick brush prevented anyone from seeing Slaughters car. And even though foul play is not suspected in this case because slaughter has a medical history of seizures, authorities still have determine if in fact this is Slaughters body, that leaves family members without closure until an autopsy is done
It was reported by area residents that they heard a loud bang on the day Slaughter went missing.

I wonder if she had a seizure while driving. How sad. And she had just been visiting a friend in a nursing home? She sounds like a nice thoughtful lady...especially with the name "pumpkin." That is a term of affection to me anyway. What I called my grandkids when they were little. Sad for her family. I'm glad it wasn't a murder. That in itself is such a relief.

Does anyone know if the body in the car was ever confirmed as that of Slaughter?
