Body Mysteriously Found In Plattsburgh Home

Authorities Investigating Scene; Locals Worried

Police are investigating the mysterious discovery of a body found inside a home in Plattsburgh.

Investigators are not sure how the victim died, but police confirmed Thursday that they have found one body in a house off Military Turnpike in Plattsburgh.

So far, authorities haven't said who it is or how long the body's been there.

Relatives, however, who couldn't reach the family last week, were concerned enough to call police.

State police said they got a call on Dec. 23 from a person in Florida, asking them to check on some Plattsburgh relatives from whom they hadn't heard in a while.

Husband Dead, Wife Missing, Police Fear for Her SafetyPolice in upstate New York have identified the person found dead yesterday inside a home in Schuyler Falls.

"We do believe it to be the body of David Donivan , 67-years-old, who with his wife Lorraine, owned the House of Pine and Oak," said Captain Robert LaFountain of the New York State Police.

Meanwhile, police say his wife is missing, and they fear for her safety.

Early this morning the couple's truck was found in Vermont.

Murder Motive?

Police are beginning to tighten up the circle of search for the killers of 67-year-old David Donivan and his 46-year-old wife Lorraine.

An informational road block was set up today in front of the Donivan's home to learn more about the crime.

I've never heard the term "informational road block". I'm assuming it means a roadblock where they ask people in the cars, and on the street if they saw anything?

Is that correct?

I've never heard of that either, but the definition sounds about right. Interesting.

Dashnaw retrial continues with investigator testimony

PLATTSBURGH — A State Police investigator testified Tuesday about discovering the decomposing body of David Donivan in the basement of the Donivan home in December 2005.

During the second day of the retrial of Edward A. Dashnaw — the Plattsburgh man accused of killing Mr. Donivan and his wife, Lorraine — Plattsburgh-based Senior Investigator Kevin Leavine told jurors he responded to the couple’s Schuyler Falls residence the afternoon of Dec. 29, 2005.
