CA-Lucinda Correia-Peina, 30 y/o Stockton

Stockton police are looking for a woman last seen when her family says she went to meet a friend at 2 a.m. Saturday.

Lucinda Correia-Peina, 30, was last seen in the 7700 block of Santa Inez Court in Stockton. It's believed she was wearing a black sweater, blue pajama bottoms and white tennis shoes. Her family said she is going through a difficult divorce and her disppearance is uncharacteristic.

Police said they have no evidence of foul play, but believe her disappearance is suspicious.

Police Look for Man in Woman's Disappearance

Police are now looking for a "person of interest" in connection with the disappearance of a Stockton woman last weekend. The woman's SUV was found this morning, and police say there was a body inside.

Although no identification had been made, the missing woman's mother clearly feared the worst as police drove her from the duplex she shares with her daughter.

http://www.news10.net/storyfull2.aspx?storyid=17098

They are not saying who's body this is but if they took her mother somewhere I doubt its a man's body. I realize they don't want to release info until the family is notified and a postive ID made but good grief this just seems odd.

Family Of Murdered Stockton Woman Speaks Out

~snip~
The family of 30-year-old Lucinda Correia-Pina gathered outside her mother's home this morning to share their grief. "I've been through a lot of pain in my life but I think this is the most painful thing that I've ever felt," Pina's mother Lucinda Smith told CBS 13, "I have not accepted the fact that my daughter is not with me any longer."

Smith's daughter Lucinda was reported missing last week. Her body was found on Tuesday inside her abandoned SUV.

The next day police arrested Pina's live-in friend, 35-year-old Reynaldo Dungo for her murder. Dungo also coached girl's basketball with her at Pulliam Elementary School.

Lucinda's mother was surprised by the arrest especially since he had stayed with her after her daughter's disappearance. "He stayed in my home and he cried in my lap and slept on my floor and he showered in my shower after the fact." said a visibly upset Smith.

I'm thankful the ordeal of waiting and searching is over...this is just so horrible, the murderer among them during all of this. Thoughts and prayers for Lucinda's mother, family, children and friends as they go thru this nightmare.

Mother of woman found slain 'in such disbelief'

The mother of a slain Stockton woman whose body was found earlier this week spoke publicly for the first time Thursday, saying she is still in shock over losing her daughter. She also portrayed the man accused of killing her as manipulative and deceitful.

Surrounded by family and friends, Pam Smith said she is still numb and hasn't come to terms with the death of her only child, Lucinda Correia Pina, 30.

"This is still so surreal to me. I'm in such disbelief that she's not here," Smith told reporters gathered outside the north Stockton duplex she split with her daughter. "I haven'taccepted the fact that my daughter is not with me."

Dungo's Arrest Confirms Suspicions For Some

Typically, when someone is arrested for a crime, friends come forward in their defense -- but that's not the case with Reynaldo Dungo. In fact, some say that his arrest for the murder of Lucinda Correia-Pina only confirms their suspicions.

Tabitha Griffin, a student on the basketball team Dungo coached, said that she recalls how Dungo sought her out in the library the day after he allegedly killed Correia-Pina.

“Meet me at the park on Monday and we’ll go to lunch, but don’t tell nobody where you’re going. Nobody,” said Tabitha Griffin.

This guy taught elementary school basketball. So what grade is this student in....the sixth? Why would he want her to sneak and meet with him for lunch?
Boy, that little girl is lucky that it never happened. She may have ended up dead too.

I wonder what his reason was for killing his roommate? They roomed together and also coached together? It must not have been him who had been harrassing her if he lived with her. As they lived together she wouldn't have had to go somewhere to confront him at 2 in the morning. I wonder what happened.

Jury Returns 2nd-Degree Murder in Mother of 3's Death

A Stockton jury has found a man guilty of second degree murder in the death of his friend whose decomposing body was discovered days later in her SUV.

Reynaldo Dungo, 35, was charged with strangling Lucinda Correia Pina in her daughter's bedroom on April 15, 2006 and then putting her blanket-wrapped body in the backseat of her SUV. The SUV with Pina was found four days later on Santiago Way in Stockton.

Man gets 15 years to life in woman's strangling

A judge this morning sentenced Reynaldo Santos Dungo to 15 years to life in state prison for the April 2006 slaying of Lucinda Correia Piña, a mother of four children found dead in her sport utility vehicle days after relatives reported her missing.

Dungo, 35, during the sentencing before San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge Charlotte Orcutt apologized to Piña’s mother and four children, who were in court. A jury in April found Dungo guilty of second degree murder for strangling her.
