Missing man's relative says lie detector disputes shooting claim
A person who claims to know what happened to Kent Jacobs eight years ago has failed a lie detector test, a family member says.
The test was done through a law enforcement agency, Jackie Jacobs said in an e-mailed statement.
Jackie Jacobs is the sister of Kent, the 42-year-old man who vanished March 10, 2002. Kent Jacobs, who had the mental capacity of a 9-year-old, was last seen in the Colonial Heights neighborhood off N.C. 59 south of Hope Mills.
Jackie Jacobs also heads the KJ Foundation, which she founded after Kent disappeared.
In February, a person came forward claiming that Kent Jacobs was shot in the head at a trailer off Muscat Road in Hope Mills.
At that time, lawmen discounted the story, saying there was no evidence to support it.
Because the investigation continues, lawmen would not confirm or deny today that they have given the person a lie detector test, said Debbie Tanna, spokeswoman for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
