Gracelin, I had the same thought as soon as I heard that he phoned the station house and not 911. Everyone knows 911 is recorded. Is the other kind as well?
I decided to ask by calling my local precinct which I have done from time to time. It's the 19th on Manhattan's East Side. It rings and rings and rings. It is not the way to get help quickly. --- Yes! A desk sargeant answers. Last time I called was to get a police report for the event of being knocked down by a cab in a crosswalk (last year, broken ankle, fine now!!). I ask my question and the sargeant says: yes, somewhere the call IS being recorded.
That's NYC. Anyone else care to call your local police and ask? He didn't seem to mind! I wished him happy new year and thanked him!

He Did It
What part doesn't make sense? No foot prints outside...staged burglary...leaving for work in a.m....comes home 'before' daughter gets home....zero emotion at church and funeral....there is NOTHING to steal from their house....act of hatred! Yes, innocent until proven guilty, but personally I don't see any gray areas here.

You're Probably Right
Yes, she most likely was being abused emotionally and physicaly long before the actual murder. Yes, he is a control freak. Yes, it's all about money. Doesn't seem very gray to me: No sign of break-in.....no crushed glass.....nothing taken from house....pending divorce issue (guess he would have to pay alimony AND child support!...that will get him where it hurts!)....leaves in the a.m. and happens to arrive home before daughter gets off bus.....ZERO emotion at church and funeral....no problem-o returning to house with his daughter...no big deal, I guess.... Yes, you are innocent until proven guilty, but c'mon.....who else would pulverize his wife's face??? Truly an act of hatred and rage. He lost it!

Hi All! I have posted on this thread but thought I would toss out my two cents.
I am very close to area that she was killed and also work in the same facility as the professor. His office has been searched. I have not seen him but that doesn't mean he hasn't been in, I am not close to his office so it wouldn't be odd for me not to see him. Still trying to dig for some more dirt....

Pennsylvania economics professor broke his silence Wednesday and spoke exclusively to CBS 3 about the investigation surrounding the brutal murder of his wife inside their Main Line home.
Authorities in Montgomery County sat down with Rafael Robb, 56, the husband of 49-year-old Ellen Rob, who was found beaten to death inside her Upper Merion home in the 600 block of Forest Street.

UPPER MERION, Pa. - January 2, 2007 - A Penn professor met late this morning with county detectives investigating the murder of his wife, Ellen Robb.
Also on 6abc:
Discuss This Story | More Local News | Get 6abctogo | RSS Feeds The woman's battered body was found inside the estranged couple's home on December 22nd.
Investigators today requested a DNA sample from professor Rafael Robb, 49, her husband
He found his wife's body, but claims he didn't kill her. District Attorney Bruce Castor has scheduled a news conference for later this afternoon.
I would have thought they would have gotten the DNA early on..
I think he is doing the game thing to the max, He even walks like a helpless old man who couldn't hurt anyone..
mudt have got that from OJ

"I'm just agitated, I prefer not to talk," said Dr. Robb, who replied 'No, no,' when asked if he killed his wife.
That was a really big interview!

I'd venture to say he is too agitated to talk because the police cornered him on the DNA sample - either give it willingly or do it under court order - take your choice Mr. Robb. JMO

Hi Steve,
I had to laugh last night, as after I posted that I think Mrs Robb was the victim of domestic violence and the autopsy will most likely show that, I went to your site and read about the 'grim trigger' theory. Seems to fit. eh? The tit for tat gaming probably had been going on for years - since she filed for divorce in 2003. And I think in the last 3 months since she has hardly been seen out and about by neighbors, this abuse by Mr Robb was getting pretty tatty, until he simply exploded and decided that was it for her and he called for the grim reaper to come and get her out of his life.
If he is the killer, I think we will find he is a man pretty well devoid of emotion with a major psyche problem that made him cruel, and I think this often showed through in his personality, and then culminated with that final abuse in killing her.
I also wanted to say I read at CTV that she had money of her own and did not need him to support her financially. That means she stayed with him to have a more stable home for Olivia, and because of that DV syndrome she was caught in, couldn't see the light thru the trees to get out of the situation.
Oftentimes people who are brilliant in one regard have other issues with social well-being. I think this is one of those cases. I don't even think he was emotional when he killed her. He was driven to demolish her body.

I havent commented yet on this case but have to say that I am in agreement that this was a personal crime.. the amount of injury as well as the type and location of the injuries inflicted upon Eileen are tellling in my opinion.
"Investigators say they still don't have the murder weapon. Action News has learned that Robb was beaten with a heavy, small gauge object, something like a fireplace poker or a crowbar "
Thats personal - you have to get in close proximity to someone to inflict harm to that degree with these types of weapons.. the perp had to stand close and deliberateness in the attack for a long time to inflict this much damage to one area of the body.. and get very bloody in doing so. also to clean up themselves afterward would take much time.
Also the fact that the dog made no noise as if inidcating that the people in the house that day all belonged there or were familiar to the dog.
Another thing that caught my attention today was his deflecting the questions by stating "I'm just agitated, I prefer not to talk,"... more likely trying to not catch himself in any contridictory statements.
