police looking for man who abducted/raped boy in LA

Baton Rouge Police Department officers are looking for a man who raped a 12-year-old boy inside a warehouse after abducting the child Saturday night in the 2300 block of Highland Road.

Police on Tuesday released an artistís sketch of a suspect. He is a black man in his mid-30s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with an average build and dark complexion. He has low cut hair, a receding hairline and a mustache and goatee.

From the article:
A man in a light-colored, late- model sport utility vehicle pulled up beside the boy and offered him money to ride with him and help move some heavy equipment, Kelly said. The boy agreed and got into the vehicle.
Why, why, why??? It said later in the article for parents to review basic safety tips with their kids. This kid went through a terrible ordeal, obviously, but why did he get into a stranger's car??
