ATLANTA -- A pregnant woman's wild ride in a taxi has landed a cabbie in jail. That cab driver has been charged with two counts of kidnapping.
The woman claims she and her brother were held against their will in the cabbie’s car while they argued about the fare.
Police believe the female cab driver went too far in the dispute.
The passenger in the cab thought the 3 minute ride would be about $5 but the cabbie said the minimum fare would be $6.
“She said, ‘Oh, you don’t have the money, I’m calling the police,” said Jerilou Agasa.
Agasa is nine months pregnant and she decided she needed to call a taxi for the short ride home from a Wal-Mart. She had her younger brother with her.
“She kept driving up and down Marietta Street so I started getting scared and I started yelling at her, 'Let me out of the car,' said Agasa.
As the argument over the fare went on, police said the cab driver then locked the doors to the cab, put the car in drive, and took off with the passengers trapped in the back.
The cab driver called police.
"I said, 'I don't know where you're taking me, please let me out of the car.' At this point I was really frantic, I was screaming, I was crying and I threw the six dollars at her and said, 'Here, let me out of the car,' and she said, 'No, I'm calling the police.' I said, 'Call the police, please,' said Agasa.
Agasa said minutes ticked by and there was no sign of the police. (more at link)
