That's what I was just thinking. Why did the boy have to seek out a cop when a neighbor saw all of that. She should have called them right then.

We don't know that she didn't call CPS, right? She might have wanted to remain anonymous. I've felt that way here when I've called CPS twice for two children. In any case, I'm glad that poor boy is going to be ok now. I hope, anyway.

This makes me so mad, coming from someone who may not be able to have kids. I hate seeing these things everyday. Give your babies to me and they will have lots of love. Poor baby, just glad he was brave enough to tell someone. Good for him, hopefully his life will get better now.

I think neighbours here are afraid of 'being nosey' when it comes to people and their children and thats awful when it comes to childrens safety. I suppose they think that if theyre wrong in their accusations they have then got to live by the people they accused.

We had a case near me when a woman used to watch a teenage boy beat his g/f to the ground most nights to get his agression out and she did nothing. She could see it all going on in their living room from a upstiars window. I felt sick that she had done nothing.

I have called 9111 only once because I saw 2 young children unattended in a car. You know what. I didn't care if the parents knew who turned them in or not. when she saw that she should have called 911 it was urgent and I know they ask if you want to leave your name and CPS is not allowed to tell who called and reported abuse. So many lives could be saved if people would step up and watch out for others.

I called police...

on a woman at Chuck E. Cheese who was definately on crack. I have seen crack addicts and a family member was addicted to meth, so I know the signs.

Everyone was whispering amongst themselves about how she was twitching, talking loudly, talking to herself, etc. I watched her for about 15 minutes and when it looked like she was going to leave with 4 young boys, I called the police.

They arrived within minutes, took the lady outside, and kept the children inside with another officer. When I left, they had her inside the police car and the police officer watching the children was contacting another family member.

About ten minutes after I left, I received a call from a Lt. from the police department thanking me for making the call and adding that I did the right thing. Apparently after giving her a series of sobriety tests, they determined she was under the influence. Upon searching her purse, they found not only a crack pipe, but cocaine and meth. I also agreed to be a witness if it went to court. I could not see her driving a vehicle in that state with four small children.

kaelee2, great observation and reaction. I wish more people would do the same thing. Most people think "what if I'm wrong" "what if she is handicapped" and eventually they talk themselves out of making the call.

You done good!

kaelee, I'm so proud of you! I wish more people were as caring as you.

I've called CPS here 3x and was told in two instances that it was "only" neglect. Both times I asked to remain anonymous because everyone was pretty sure the child lives in a drug house. The 3rd time I asked to remain anonymous because the father knows where we live and he's MEAN. So anonymous I'll stay for my own family's safety.
