Question OK Law Changes For Allowing Registering Sex Offenders Near Schools

(TULSA, Okla.) October 30 - New sex offender laws go into effect in just two days. One of them will allow registered offenders to live near schools, at least for a while.

But now under a new state law, sex offenders can register at any address even if it's right next to a school.

Under the new law, police will at least know where all sex offenders are living, and if it's too close to a school the case will be given to the district attorney for review. It's hoped it will catch more offenders who are breaking the law.

The new laws, which also include a tier system for sex offenders, go into effect on Thursday.
