Woman Accused Of Wiping Nose On Cop's Shirt Charged With Battery
This is so ridiculous.
DUNBAR, W.Va. — Sometimes you need a police officer; sometimes you need a tissue. Confuse the two, and it could cost you.
A woman in this Charleston suburb was charged with battery on a police officer after the officer said she wiped her nose on the back of his shirt.
Cpl. S.E. Elliott said he had arrested the 36-year-old woman last week after seeing her slap a man, bite him on the elbow and spit in his face. Elliott said the woman wiped her nose on him as he led her into the police station for booking on a charge of domestic battery.
Battery on a police officer is defined as intentionally making physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature with an officer.

This is not even remotely funny but it made me laugh - I have to deal with a four year old with a runny nose and it makes me gag - can you imagine the obnoxiousness of a 36 year old blowing her nose into your shirt?
*gagging and shuddering* She deserves something, and battery is probably the only thing there is to charge her with.

No Way
Man, that cop had to be seething. They don't take kindly to people messing up their uniform let alone with bodily fluids.

I get snot on my shirt all the time! And saliva and pee and poop, too! You mean, I could be charging my kids with battery? Right on!
Seriously, that's pretty gross even when it's your own kids, I think I would come unglued if someone else did anything like that to me. I hope he can make the charges stick...har!

Har is right, hipmama. The things people do when arrested can get pretty nasty. A friend of mine had a woman jump on his patrol car and squat on it, and well put it this way she was cleaning up alot. Considering the number of diseases carried in bodily fluid it can be dangerous for these cops. Spit, pooh and pee, and snot. Lovely. Hope your migraines are doing better, HM.

Hee hee, this thread reminds me of a dear departed friend
One of my best, dearest friends in the world for the last 20 years of his life was a person in LE.
We dated for a time when I was young.. One day, I was at his apt. and he came in, mad as heck. Face beet red, throwing his keys down.. This guy never got mad, so it was a sight to see.
I asked him what was wrong, and he said " This great big ole girl spit on the trunk of my squad car when I was arresting her, and then she tried to BITE me".
Sure enough, I went outside and looked, and there was saliva all over the trunk of his B &W. We laughed about how mad he was about it for years later..
We always had special times at Christmas together, even after we married other people. Thanks for this thread- it's like he's sending me a memory. Both incidents border on the ridiculous.

We're talking about an adult here in this article, not a baby or a child. This adult could have any sort of disease from a common cold to HIV... and wiping her nose on an officer is not only disrespectful but could be unhealthy or even deadly to him.

I know, that's why I was saying that was pretty gross and I would come unglued too. I was just trying to inject some humor, sorry if it didn't go over well.

I thought it was a felony to intentionally get any sort of bodily fluid on a sworn officer. It's really for the officer's protection. I guess I could be wrong though.
