Newport News police are still searching for a 12-year-old girl who ran away from home 36 hours ago and may have spent last night outside in the woods in freezing temperatures.
Nalani Silva, a 4-foot-9, 100-pound Newport News girl, hasn't been heard from since 9 p.m. Tuesday night. Police have been searching for her since early Wednesday morning, but have found no signs of her. Police spokesman Lou Thurston said detectives would be talking with some of her school friends today in an attempt to locate her.
She left notes for her parents and isn't believed to have run away with anyone, police said
