A bee-infested car recovered by Macomb County sheriff's deputies reportedly contains clues that may help in the search for a New Haven woman who has been missing since May 19.
Judith Mattise, 55, was last seen leaving her home on May 19 in a silver 2003 Chevrolet Impala with Michigan license plate number 3AQW95.
A towing company clearing abandoned cars on the streets of Detroit found the vehicle on Sept. 16 parked on Adelaide Street near Comerica Park, according to police.
Police believe the vehicle may have been sitting at that location for months. It was reportedly infested with two nests of bees -- one in the trunk and one near the front passenger door.
Deputies also discovered inside the car what appeared to be Mattise's purse, which contained some personal belongings and cash, Local 4 reported.
"We still haven't been able to make a determination as to how valuable some of that evidence or property that was in the car is at this point in time," said Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel.
Mattise's husband, Jim, 61, was found dead on May 21 in his car with a suicide note next to him, according to police. Investigators say he strangled himself using a plastic zip tie.
