Thanks, DD~! It was getting long. Would you mind going back and correcting the spelling of Mike's name tho on your title of this thread? LOL Alphonse Michael Barbiere

Mods~ Please don't lock it until Murdershewrote goes back to put her link in to the article she quoted. I think it is a must around here, isn't it?

Just go to Go Advanced after you click into the Edit button and it will allow you to fix the title. No biggie! (We all have to learn sometime! LOL)

It is OK! Do ya know how long it took me to find out that you have to hit the other reply button before you got the emoticons to show up?! LMAO

OK Back to Mike now....Where were we? Oh, yes...Discussing the family talking to Lory Pounder, the reporter, about why they are not asking the right questions about the "mystery searcher".

Blink, I knew exactly which one as soon as you mentioned it. Yes, he was playing CYA and now we know why. Losing your liquor license would be a HUGE problem in a resort town. Beer only bars tend to lose business quickly with out of towners because of the caliber of crowds they draw.

Considering there are only 5 that have extended late hours.
Also of note, there are only 2 involved in the recent "crime wave".
Mike, as missing person, guy who ended up dying from heart failure, but brought on by an assult, and another student actually running from the bar with a gaping wound requiring stitches from Illinois.
Yeesh- note the sign. Guy from same establishment was from Illinois, Mike was found in Illinois gulch.

It is never good for an establishment to have patrons leaving with gaping wounds and gushing blood. They should look at the owners for this type of behavior being tolerated. How much really happened the night Mike was there? You bet the staff or locals aren't going to say a word.

Hmmm...what if he came back after hours to that bar? What if they let him in and something happened when they were supposedly closed? Would they go as far to cover it up to take him out to the rink and dump him to keep from having the business shut down?!

I think LE has the tape from there, so doubtful, but you know, not implausible form any info we have except the obvious multiple witness scenario, etc..

Could someone recap this case for those who have only just started reading about it please? He was found, when, where? Do they know how he died? Are they still searching for the people who saw him last? And etc. <add details here>

Does the tape run 24/7? Was the bartender and wait staff male or female?

Mike (on a ski trip) went missing in a blizzard after leaving a bar in Breckenridge, CO.

He has been missing two months. His friends saw him last.

A man found his credit card on a highway and they found him in an adjacent field buried in the snow a half mile from where he was last seen walking the other way.

The autopsy is being done on Thursday. No COD yet.

Here is the rest of the story: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60192

What is this about? Who was bleeding? Can you link/give more details about this bar? Really I wish there could be a post recapping the major points of what was covered in the previous topic for subjects like these...

He was only mentioned in an article and is not part of this scenario other than he was at the same bar. We don't know who he is or when it took place...that I am aware of at least.

Er, so the bar he stopped at has a violent reputation, as evidenced by various newpaper articles or something like that?

I just recapped the case. I am not going to go through every detail. You are going to have to read it if you want those.

As the case stands now, there is no logical explanation for him to have crossed into the field where he was found. We do not know anything about how they found him (in what condition) or how much alcohol was actually in his system yet. We don't know if foul play enters into this as far as LE is concerned either...but they want people to think he was drunk and walked there...died of hypothermia. The family disputes this as his brother was in Breckenridge with him.

bunch of both for the waitstaff, not sure if 24/7 runs on the same loop as the regular.. ( I believe security mode has a diff back up)

If I covered this already I apologize, but unless foul play is determined or "under suspicion" opening a criminal investigation, neither the family investigator nor LE can view the tape because of privacy laws.

So LE has had the tapes for 2 months, and they haven't been able to view them because there wasn't a criminal investigation?!?

No, they viewed them, I believe they are/were in their custody, Le is limited as to how they go about finding people on the tape to interview. Given their is a variety of tourists that are not local. Assume their were many that they did not speak to. If it were a criminal matter, they would be able to subpoena the records of the receipts and use different methods to find the people at the bar. I believe that also entitles their Invetigator (family) to be updated on the matter with specifics. There is some law about sharing info with family PI in active missing persons case but I dont know what it is or if it varies by state.

Gotcha, Blink. It makes sense about the privacy laws and the tape.

The only reason I mentioned it is because I know bartenders that given the conditions of the blizzard might make acceptions in having people inside after hours if they are "with" one of the staff. Mike has a lot of missing time to account for and the bar seems to be going to lengths to insure no one think they are involved. (He doth protest too much.)

your freakin me out i used exactly the same phrase for exactly the same issue . Yeesh.
Unfortunately, at that time, there were still folks around Main or cleaning up, etc, and could be seen through storefronts, etc. It is a pretty sure thing he did not go back down Main, which as you know I maintain is strange
