MA-Discussion Thread: Missing MA Teen Taylor Meyer, age 17

Information thread here:

http://websleuths.com/forums/showthr...55#post2839555

Blog post:

http://www.truecrimereport.com/2008/...etts_taylo.php

Taylor disappeared Friday night. Some friends say she called them that night saying something about a "plane," and then they didn't hear from her again. This one is weird and mysterious already.

Having that one post removed at True Crime Report and the discussion about it is intriguing!

Surely someone must know. Someone, someone . . . who could it be?

I came here looking to see what was removed from the true crime post as well. Surely, someone saw it before it was taken down...

How frightening she went missing from an airport! She could be anywhere by now. What are high school kids doing drinking at the airport anyway? Hangar party? I take it this isn't a large airport? More details!!

I am thinking the part he removed isn't really pertinent to her being missing...at least yet or he would not have removed it. Like he said, it will probably come up again if she isn't found soon. Her history will be splashed all over the internet sadly.

What makes this even more peculiar is that this particular airport is not in use, to my understanding anyway. I really think there is more to this story, disappearing from a house party strikes me as very unusual.

So if she called a friend saying "plane", hopefully that means she had a cell. I wonder if it's still pinging there.

For anyone interested in gaining a perspective on the Norfolk Airport, the following has both photos and information:

http://www.airfields-freeman.com/MA/Airfields_MA_C.htm

The airport is basically a single landing strip located within a wooded yet residential area and near bodies of water. It is also listed as "closed indefinitely". Very curious.

These circumstances are definately strange, I looked around online and it doesn't seem that there are any planes at all there anymore. It seems to be abandoned for quite a while.

I am wondering the whole story about her friend getting a call from her and hearing the word plane. Something seems more suspicious here. Also it isn't clear on if she was reported missing one day after last seen or 1 week after last being seen.

On a video on myfoxboston.com there is a video that says a little time was lost in the beginning because of some confusion on where she was. I would think if they meant the next day after the party that she was reported missing that it wouldnt have really have been time lost compared to if they are talking about a whole week.

Also if she is a senior and she missed a whole week of school I can't see someone not noticing that sooner than a week...I will hopefully have more understanding after more is released.

She was last seen two days ago (Oct 17, or if you count early morning, then Oct 18 -- yesterday.), so it obviously wasn't a week before it was reported.

I've saved it, thinking I might put it back in the post, eventually. I honestly didn't think it belonged, but I also knew people would look for it and put it out there anyway. Here's the paragraph I excised:

Quote:
As a side note, if police suspect Taylor's friends of having more knowledge about her disappearance than they want to admit, they might want to start here, in an online community that seems devoted to gossip between students at Taylor's school, King Philip Regional High. It may be totally irrelevant now, 3 years later, but when Taylor was still in 8th grade, there were some students expressing some pretty ugly sentiments about her. A few of them may be feeling some serious regret about their words tonight.

I tried to tell a pi**y commenter on the blog that it's going to show up no matter how relevant or irrelevant they think it is. If Taylor is gone from foul play and the case stays unsolved, the police might be curious, even about 4-yr-old feuds.

I bet these hateful posters are scared to death right now. I doubt it has anything to do with Taylor's disappearance, unless they haven't matured any in the last few years.

Since the airport is not used or used only sparingly and the plane was brought up by her friends, I would strongly suggest they be questioned more thoroughly. It seems in many instances that peer group pressure overrides common sense. This past "hatred" could carry on to later years as the words were pretty strong.

I am also considering the fact that this was an underage drinking party and stupidity is frequently an issue with young people. But, mostly, I have a feeling that the "plane" was brought up as an out. I hope I am wrong.

It would be good reading to think she was swept away by a mysterious plane when in fact she was knocked on the head and dragged into a wooded area. Again, I hope I am wrong.

Some people never get past that stuff, so you never know. Certain people should be more worried about if LE thinks this is relevant or not. If they do, internet blogs will be the least of their worries.

Yeah, I think I'd be a little worried if I had posted, "i wanna shoot the gurl," and the "gurl" goes missing, even if I'd posted it three years ago!

Well, there have been plenty of horrific murders of high school kids by their peers for us to know that some grudges never go away.

If this was an abandoned airfield, I wonder if a plane did land and take off with her inside.

Well...sounds to me like jealousy was the main issue with those rants about her. Jealousy does create rage and longterm enemies in that age group. I would be interested if I were LE in those people and their cliques today. High school petty jealousy and alcohol don't mix well.

I would definitely be questioning the plane call as well. Quite a few of the news reports online still say she was at a house party....maybe someone didn't want to get in trouble for underage drinking at their house, so the airfield story was created? There was a resident of the area on the Boston news website posted on a few messages back, and they interviewed him and asked about teens and parties at the airfield...he made it sound as he lives in one of the houses surrounding the abandoned airfield, and he says he has never heard of any parties or gatherings out there.

He said it is super grown up with weeds and surrounded by really rough terrain. According to the recent pics online of the airfield even the runway is super grown up with weeds and cracked severely so I don't see a plane landing there really.

I am questioning the whole airfield thing completely. Maybe the plane phone call was made up to try and make authorities believe she was last at the airfield, take their concentration off wherever she really is.

I'm with you. I'm skeptical of the airfield thing and the "plane" phone call, as intriguing as it is, smacks of something someone could have made up. It has the ring of an urban legend, almost.

I've made a minor update on my post about Taylor:

http://www.truecrimereport.com/2008/...etts_taylo.php

If you see a lot of "guests" on this thread, it's probably because the post made it to the front page at Fark.com, and folks are following a link in my blog post to this discussion.

From my update:

Quote:
The Norfolk PD also confirmed the report that a friend of Taylor's said the missing teen called someone the night she vanished, repeating the word "plane" over and over.

Do we know anything new today?
Ya know...i've seen some movies and stuff where the "mean girls" would hate another girl so much
and it got to the point where they wanted to "teach her a lesson"...and someimes it turns fatal.
I hope nothing like that happened here.

It seemed like a group of people were really hating on her....
