Biloxi police started their investigation at midday Thursday, when relatives of 78-year-old Francis Brice Roberts reported someone had called in a ransom for their loved one's safe return. Roberts is described as 5 feet, 10 inches and 210 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes.
By late Thursday night, authorities had recovered Roberts' abandoned Lincoln Town Car outside the Dollar Tree near the intersection of Pass and Courthouse roads in Gulfport. They later picked up John Paul Necaise, 42, a suspect in the case who was later charged with a federal weapons violation while authorities continued to question him.
