A body found during the weekend may be that of a transient man last seen in September.
A hunter discovered the badly decomposed body at about 4:26 p.m. Nov. 23 off County Trunk AY and Madison Road near Iron Ridge, according to Dodge County Sheriff's Department dispatch logs.
Iron Ridge Police Chief Charles Young said a positive identification of the body was not expected until Tuesday.
"At this point we don't know if the body is that of a 56-year-old former Brookfield man that was reported missing back in September," Young said. "In that case, we were contacted by the man's son who reported that his father, who had been living out of his car, had been suicidal and was missing."
Young said that the body was in advanced stages of decomposition. The body was transported to the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner's Office for assessment.
