Saudi Arabia Authorizes Child Bride Marriages

This is a crime if I ever saw one. In this article, it says that Saudi clerics have authorized the marriage of girls as young as 10. In one case, the petition of a mother trying to annul the arranged marriage of her 8 year old little girl to the child's father's 47 year old business associate, was dismissed but the judge did make the man sign a promise not to consummate the "marriage" until the child reaches puberty. Outrageous and sick.

Lol, not this kind of "diversity"! It's the kind of situation where contextual ethics simply does not work for me. Like female genital mutilation, the pratice of bride burning in India, "honor" killings and infant exposure. I don't care what a person's culture teaches them, these pratices are flat out wrong and should be viewed as universally wrong. Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I completely agree that there are practices that are universally wrong. For expressing that point of view I will generally be told that "my opinion is wrong" and that I am "full of hate".

Still, I just cannot see where the cutting of of a young girl's private parts (for instance) is something anyone should ever accept. Perhaps I need more sensitivity training.
