Rescued infant dies year later in day care
This happened here in Chandler, AZ. It is such a sad story! When are people going to realize that children are not disposable?

(snippet from article)
Selenia Moreno seemed to be a survivor.
Abandoned as an infant by her mother to a virtual stranger, she was rescued from a filthy, dilapidated house where pit bulls ran free and transients lived.
The state took custody of her Sept. 11, 2007, when detectives with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office were investigating the death of an infant who lived with Selenia.
But on Nov. 5, just four months from turning 3 years old and days from being adopted, Selenia died at a Chandler day care center.

She was arrested last week, then RELEASED! Prosecuters are declining to file charges.......

I am curious, would you keep taking your child to that daycare if he or she had been going there all along?

What a horrible way for Selenia to die. I'm speechless at the last the comments the day care owners made in the last article.
"Colorful Kids is owned by Keith and Rachel DeChristina.
Rachel DeChristina declined to comment Tuesday on Bradford's release but issued a statement last week saying that she and her husband weren't aware of any allegations of wrongdoing against Bradford."
What? It's one thing to be cleared in an investigation but it's a whole 'nother thing if the LE says "we don't have enough evidence to prosecute".
I'm going to decline the daycare question because none of mine never went to daycare. Nothing wrong with it, it was a personal choice that my Husband and I made together.
I hope that later on that the LE can revisit this investigation.

I guess God needed more angels up there..

I should say that my children have never gone to daycare either, I am a SAHM of 4 children, for 13 years now.
I was offered a job I really wanted last week, and I had to sadly turn it down, my children would have needed child care, after 13 years of sacrifice, I am not willing to let them go now, I can wait to go back to work.
For those families who do use daycare, I have no pre-conceived ideas about it, lots of my friends and even in our family use it, it is just so scary that this can happen, you never know who is taking care of your children.
My heart breaks for her and her family.
MeoW333~ I agree, my Gram passed away 4 years ago next month, I like to think she is up there with all of those babies, loving every minute of it! I sure do hope so, someone should love these kids!

Great post. I did want to point out for the sake of polite argument that children are much much more likely to be harmed by a family member or friend than by a "stranger" at a daycare.
This little girl had a lot of cards stacked against her. My prayers that she is now at peace.

You sure are right about that, I am thankful she was loved in her new home!
Yes, unfortunately, it seems you are right about children and family and friends there are unknowns everywhere, no matter what route you go with your children, you never know, even in your own home, there are risks, things can happen (knock on wood).
My kids, even my 5 year old, they all think I worry waaaaay too much!

My little one goes to daycare, has since she was 3 months, now she's almost 3 years. We trust the daycare. Within 2 weeks of starting, they could differentiate between her cries. That impressed us. She learns a ton there, and they don't have a very high turn over rate with workers. She loves it there and we really like it there. However, if something like this EVER happened at her daycare, we would not continue to use the place. I entrust them with my daughter's life, if someone in the facitilty took a child's life, I would not feel safe having my daughter there. There is a huge difference between an accident and the actions this worker took.
