2009.03.02 CA Francis Ann Collins, 3, Yreka-Kody Lee Kaplon
An Amber Alert was issued this morning for a 3-year-old Yreka girl who was reportedly abducted during a burglary.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Rick Landrum said the girl, Francis Ann Collins, was abducted by Kody Lee Kaplon of Hornbrook around 4:37 a.m. in the Yreka area.
She is of no relation to the suspect, "but apparently the father knew him," Landrum said.
Kaplon is described as a white male, standing five feet, seven inches tall, weighing 140 pounds. He's 22 years old with brown hair and hazel eyes.
He was last seen wearing a black and white flannel shirt and blue jeans. He has multiple tattoos on both arms and hand, including a "mud flap girl" on his right arm.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol are looking for a green 1992 Pontiac Grand AM with the license plate of 3WKA651.
The car has damage on the driver's side, Landrum said.
The girl is described as standing three feet tall, weighing 30 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a tie-dye T-shirt.
Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or the Yreka Police Department.
Kaplon has been charged in Siskiyou County for petty theft, driving without a valid license, drunken driving and driving on a suspended license, electronic superior court records show.

The article doesn't really state WHY she was taken, it says the father knew the suspect, but in what capacity??
There is a very interesting comment at the bottom of the article (in the first post) - I don't want to get in trouble by posting what it said, but it says that he possible just met them on Sunday!?....Then broke in just hours later....
Who knows if the comment is true, but it does make me think differently - that this was not 'revenge' or something like that, but possibly he met the little angel and wanted her....but for what??

At least his criminal records don't show he is a sex offender - although in this day and age that might mean he just hadn't been caught yet

The cops just spotted the car kody is driving "west bound on highway 140" heading towards medford oregon...
Authorities say the parents of a 3-year-old girl abducted during a home burglary early Monday had just met the suspect.
Yreka Police Lt. Dave Gamache said Francis Ann Collins' parents met 22-year-old Kody Lee Kaplon during a party at their house Sunday night. The girl's father, Ryan Collins, was awakened around 4:30 a.m. by her screams and apparently saw Kaplon drive off with her.

I'm curious and may have missed something. But how does the dad know this guy took his daughter? Did the dad see them leave? I mean the dad could have done something and made this other guy the fall guy. Back to reading....

UPDATED: 3-Year-Old Girl Abducted During Morning Robbery in Yreka
Kaplon, apparently estranged from his wife, was staying at the apartment where the girl lives. The girl's family told KTVL that Kaplon had an argument with his wife earlier and took money and her car from her residence before abducting Francis. Kaplon reportedly had been drinking; the victim's family said it is not like Kaplon to act this way.

of Kody K and 3 yr old little girl, Francis Ann Collins.
Medford, or is 60 plus miles from Yreka, Ca.
Yreka, Ca is very close to the Oregon border.
