Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Ocean City Police Chief Chad Callahan announce the on-going investigation into the March 11 disappearance of 21 year-old, John Weisbecker, of Ocean City.

Weisbecker is described as a white male, brown hair, brown mustache, last seen wearing a black t-shirt with “SEEDLESS” across the front, dark jeans, and brown “ES” brand sneakers. According to police, Weisbecker has numerous tattoos on his torso and both arms.

Weisbecker was reported missing by family members on March 12. He was last seen by members of his immediate family during the morning hours of March 11, 2009.

The photograph was taken on December 24, 2008 and depicts Weisbecker with a full beard. At the time of his disappearance, Weisbecker had only a mustache.

The below paragraph is respectfully snipped from the above link:

John Weisbecker asked his mother, Jennifer Powell, to pick up some new shirts for his seasonal job that was to begin the next day.

A few hours later, at about 11 a.m., a postal carrier saw Weisbecker when he delivered the day's mail, including Weisbecker's unemployment check.

Powell tried to call her son at about noon from her job in Vineland but his cell phone went straight to voicemail. When she came home at about 8:30 p.m. after work and a trip to the store, he was gone.

His car, a Lincoln LS, was parked outside. His unemployment check was sitting in an uncharacteristically messy pile of mail on the counter. The kitchen stools seemed pushed out of place, too. But nothing else in the home hinted at anything out of the ordinary, Powell said. By midnight, when he still had not returned, Powell called police.

Also from the same link provided above...makes me wonder if there were some serious money problems b/c why would his car be repoed in just 3 months? Why wouldn't his parents just pay the car payment in case their son was found alive? He'd need a car to get around, right? Are we missing something? Below is the snippet:

Weisbecker apparently had his wallet and cell phone when he left the Second Street house. But he has not used the phone. His car was repossessed in the months after his disappearance.

John W, from the news articles, appears to not have any major issues.
He was starting a new job. He just got an unemployment check. LE says
no warrants.
He lived at home with his mom and sister.
He was seen at 11am by the postman. He did not answer his cell at 12pm., it went to voice mail.
His mom said that the mail was in a messy pile, not its usual way.
Kitchen stools seemed out of place.
His car was there.
Per his parents, he would not walk to a local convenience store, he would only drive.
So,
considering all this. Granted, it is not a lot to go on:

Did someone visit him at the house that day?
Did a neighbor see a car parked there?
Most likely disappeared between 11am and noon.

The most likely questions have to be asked:
Most problems are linked to drugs or money or jealousy.

1. Did the police fingerprint the house?
2. Did the police spray luminol for any blood evidence?
3. Was the computer checked? Was he on any web sites that information could be obtained?
4. Did he just break up with someone?
5. Would he have sold drugs, just to friends? Weed?
6. What do his best friends have to say?
7. What did he do the day before he disappeared?

Nine long months after he went missing, friends and family of John Weisbecker hope a Dec. 11 candlelight vigil will help light the way home for the 21-year-old Ocean City man.

The smiling six-foot chef was ready to return to work at Kessel’s; he planned to go to culinary school in the fall. On the day he went missing, Weisbecker left his car and his paycheck at the house where he lives with his mother and sister. He disappeared without a trace not long after sending his mother out to buy him a few new shirts.

at the risk of stating the obvious, and dreamweaver was pretty thorough, you would hope the police or the family would have obtained the cell phone records. I mean they send a bill every month with every incoming and outgoing call itemized so there is no subpoena involved in getting the numbers.

I would have started with noon that day and worked back to see what each person in sequence had to say about their last conversations.

What a good article.

And what a shame that he is still missing.

A one hour window 11am to 12pm that he disappeared.

Just a thought or two: IMO
I know they say he was a great guy, but even great guys might
have been buying a little weed for personal consumption.
IMO: Could be he owed money or was upset over the quality of something he purchased?
or
IMO: Could be he got involved with the wrong girl? Someone who had a jealous ex?
IMO: Something he got in the mail spooked him. He called that person. They came over. They left. And something happened to him.

Prayers for John and his family.

Police in Ocean City reached out for help from the New Jersey State Police and the FBI, which brought their missing-persons expertise to bear on the case. Weisbecker's DNA and physical description were entered into the FBI's National Crime Information Center.
Detectives in Ocean City work the case every day, Lt. Steven Ang said.
"We're retracing our steps, going back over everything we've done from Day One," Ang said. "We re-interviewed some people. We try to make sure we haven't missed anything or overlooked anything from the beginning."

So, the police dept. even asked the FBI to step in.

John Weisbecker's mother still dusts his bedroom to keep it looking like it did March 11, ready to live in should her son walk through the door.
The young man's clothes are in the hamper. The bed is made. His sneakers sit on the front porch, where he left them.
Jennifer Powell lives with the agony of uncertainty.
Nine months after Weisbecker's disappearance, family and police have no idea what happened to the 21-year-old seasonal cook who aspired to become a chef.

OCEAN CITY — Law enforcement officials are announcing a new effort to help locate a missing local man.

At 3 p.m. on March 11, Ocean City police, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation will hold a press conference to announce a reward offer in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of John Weisbecker. The press conference will take place at the Ocean City police headquarters at 835 Central Ave.

So what were the cell phone records results?
If he had his phone on him were there any attempts at finding a "ping"?
