A valley man has been missing since January and this Sunday the search to find him escalated.

47-year-old Michael Doane went missing more than one month ago. His family says he had been having trouble finding a job and drove out near Indian Springs to clear his head - but never returned.

Sunday's search included about 20 people on horses and 15 family members on foot. Doane's family says they're just looking for closure.

"Unfortunately it can't be good. At least if we know something...just if we knew, it would help I think. We're looking for any pieces of clothing or evidence that he walked through here."
Doane's abandoned car was found two days after he went missing. His family says he tried to call his girlfriend, but the call didn't go through.

Details of Disappearance

Doane was last seen in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 28, 2009. He got into an argument with his live-in girlfriend and left home in his vehicle. He was depressed and unhappy at the time of his disappearance because he hadn't worked in a long time and couldn't find a job.

Doane apparently tried to call his girlfriend after he left home, but he was unable to reach her. He has never been heard from again.

The next day, a park ranger found his vehicle in the Desert National Wildlife Range, 40 miles east of Interstate 95 and Lee Canyon Road. Footprints led away from the car into the wilderness.

The circumstances of Doane's disappearance are unclear. His case remains unsolved.
