Springs Assault Suspect And Daughter Missing
Springs police are looking for a four-year old girl and her father, who they say assaulted the girl's day care providers before disappearing.
46-year old Michael Redd is wanted for first degree burglary and assault of an at-risk person. The girl's mother, Veta Fleming, says Redd lost his parental rights by not taking a court-ordered drug test.
66-year old Brigitte Lester and her 71-year old husband, Del, were caring for Jasmine Redd at their Springs home Wednesday when they say her father came and forcefully took her. "He said 'Brigitte, I gonna go to jail, I like to see my daughter' and I said 'no, you can't, you're not allowed to" says Lester. Del Lester got the worst of it. "He hit me one time in the face and I fell down to my knees, started to get back up and he kicked me" he says.
Springs police believe the child is not in danger and have not issued an amber alert.
