Ontario Girl, Victoria (Tori) Stafford, 8, Abducted; Person of Interest Sought

Victoria "Tori" Stafford is 8 years old and resides in Woodstock. Victoria attended school at Oliver Stephen's Public School in Woodstock, and left school when dismissed at 3:25 PM. Victoria had invited two friends to her house to watch a movie after school, and she was seen leaving the school. A video tape shows Victoria walking northbound on Fyfe Street in Woodstock with a white female. The time on the videotape is 3:32 PM. The female is wearing a white, waist length winter coat and may be carrying a black bag. The video shows Victoria and the female cross the street and continue walking east at the intersection of Walter Street.

She was carrying a purple coloured "Bratz" bag.

Police in Woodstock, Ont. say they are looking for a person of interest after an eight-year-old girl went missing on Wednesday.

Victoria (Tori) Stafford, a third-grader, was reported missing after she did not return home from Oliver Stephens Public School Wednesday.

But police say they have obtained surveillance video from a nearby high school of a person believed to be Tori, CTV's David Imrie said Thursday evening. A girl matching her description was seen walking with someone police are calling "a person of interest".

Police say they are looking for a white woman, aged 19-25, about 120-125 pounds, with a black ponytail and who was wearing black jeans and a white puffy jacket.

The footage was taken Wednesday. The high school is close to the elementary school Tori attends.

Tori is about four foot five inches, 62 pounds and has blue eyes and short blonde hair. She was last seen warning a denim skirt, a green shirt and a black Hannah Montana jacket with a fur-lined hood.

Police started a door-to-door search late Wednesday. They began an ground search at first light Thursday with about 40 officers and canine units.

Flyers of Tori have been plastered all over Woodstock, a city of about 30,000, 125 kilometres southwest of Toronto.

A Composite Sketch of Person of Interest was made from at least 2 witnesses. It was released by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP): white female, 19 - 25 years old, 5'1-5'3", 120-125 lbs. Wearing White Jacket, Black Jeans and possible Sling Bag.

Update - Victoria Stafford abduction

WOODSTOCK, ON, May 4 /CNW/ - The Oxford Community Police and the Ontario
Provincial Police are asking for further public assistance with respect to the
Victoria "Tori" Stafford abduction investigation.
Investigators are releasing a new segment of video and still footage from
surveillance cameras. In the video, investigators have identified footage of a
small to mid-sized, dark coloured station wagon with an approximate 262
centimetre wheel base. This vehicle was driving northbound on Fyfe Ave. after
Tori was seen with the unidentified woman.

Unknown vehicle on Fyfe Ave.

With respect to the vehicle, the make and model have not been identified
at this time. Further efforts are being made in this regard. In the interim,
investigators are hopeful that someone may recognize the vehicle. The driver
of the vehicle is believed to potentially be a valuable witness to this
incident and the Police would like to speak with this person.

The release of the tape was postponed as police tried to enhance the images, she said. "This can't be considered a suspect vehicle. It was one of many vehicles that were in the videotape. It is a very busy spot, especially after school on any day of the week."

The other vehicles in the video have been identified, she said.

Through the tape, investigators also determined Tori and the woman, seen walking north on the west side of Fyfe, crossed to the east side and into the north parking lot of the Caressant Care Nursing and Retirement Home.

The nursing home has a video camera pointing to the parking lot and intersection of Fyfe and Walter Street, but a supervisor there wouldn't say if police had taken tape from that camera as well.

Although one media source says that Linda J. is Tori's aunt, another calls her Tara's aunt. By her age, she would seem more likely to be Tara's aunt and Tori's great-aunt. Her nickname is "Pepper".
