TX - AMBER ALERT: Lesley Perez - 4 years old - Hidalgo - 13 May 2010
Amber Alert remains for kidnapped Hidalgo girl
More details may be released about a 4-year-old girl who was kidnapped outside her home last night at a press conference this afternoon.
The girl was playing baseball with a large group when a man stopped his truck next to the lot where the children were playing, hit the girl's 12-year-old sister on the head, grabbed the 4-year-old and took off.

Police said the man kidnapped Lesley Estefania Perez about 9 p.m. Tuesday from an open lot at the Sanchez Ranch colonia, south of Military Highway and east of South McColl Road, Vela said.
Both of the little girl's parents were at home at the time of the kidnapping. Perez's parents declined to comment Wednesday morning.

Kidnapping Suspect Identified
A suspect has been named in the kidnapping of 4-year-old Lesley Perez.
Officials are looking for a man by the name of Raul Ornelas.
Orenalas is described as Hispanic about 40-years-old. He's about five-feet, four-inches tall' and 165 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a dark shirt.
He is believed to be traveling in a blue Chevy Cavalier with Texas license plates: 875-SBZ.

Nancy Grace is covering this case now. (For those of you who DVR'd it, it's about 45 minutes into the show).
Apparently Hildalgo Texas (where she was taken from) is only minutes away from the Mexico border. That's a really scary thought..
Man drove up in a late 1980's model white Ford F150 (2-door, no tinted windows, factory rims and tires, loud custom exhaust system), according to police.
Description: White male in a white pickup truck (Ford F150).
Abduction happened at 9pm last night. Alert didn't go out right away because police were checking out if she ran away, did she run to another friends house, was she with a family member, etc. The Amber Alert went out at 4am this morning (7 hours later)

Just in: According to Nancy Grace, news just came in that Raul Ornales met with police and the FBI, and he has been ruled out as part of the disapperance. However, moments ago a person of interest has been taken into the police headquarters who "may know something about Lesleys abduction or who was involved" and Lesleys family is currently on their way to police headquarters.
Approximately 500 registered sex offenders around the home of Lesley.

From Nancy Grace: It appears Lesley was targeted because the perp took Lesley out of all the other children playing out there that night. He obviously wanted Lesley. Lesley apparently was taken and she jumped out of the pickup truck and attempted to run, at which case the perp got out of the car, chased her, and when her 12 year old sister tried to fight him off, he hit her over the head.

Action 4 News has just learned that Lesley Perez has been Found. Officials are telling Action 4 News that Lesley was found between Mile 11 and FM 1475 in Mercedes. Stay with Action 4 News Sunrise for the latest.

I feel such a sense of relief. I saw this little girl on Nancy Grace tonight and just said "not another one." Hard to understand why it took so long for the Amber Alert to get out. Seven hours gave someone a lot of time if the person had wanted to take this little girl into Mexico.
The paper wasn't quite clear about how Lesley was found. It sounded like someone just dropped her off in a rural area. Maybe the person got nervous with the Amber Alert out there and people able to describe the kidnapper.
Little Lesley is such a cutie. I'm so glad for her and her family that the kidnapper had a change of heart. being taken from her family for so many hours would be trumatic enough for a little 4 yr old. Bless her little heart.
