Wayne T. Coldiron, 41, of Pensacola, who was arrested Tuesday, July 14, in Florida and charged in the July 9 shooting deaths of a couple in their home, previously faced grand theft auto charges in Middletown [Ohio] Municipal Court.

However, that felony charge was reduced to a misdemeanor in July 1990, according to the online court records. The records also noted that Coldiron still has $550 in unpaid fines for a misdemeanor charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Florida authorities investigating the deaths of Melanie and Byrd Billings had recently contacted Middletown police to obtain Coldiron’s photo and fingerprints, which were forwarded to them, according to Middletown police.

Wayne Coldiron, one of the suspects in the deaths of Byrd and Melanie Billings, served two years in a Tennessee prison after a fight ended in a man's death.

In 1992, an argument between Coldiron and an acquaintance, Terry Corbett, erupted at a home in rural Hamblen County, according to a Tennessee court document.

When the two men finished fighting, Coldiron called 911, saying he defended himself against Corbett's attack, the document said.

Corbett declined immediate medical attention and was taken to his mother's home by officers. He died the next day after being taken to a hospital.

Coldiron eventually pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal negligent homicide and was sentenced to two years in prison.

He was arrested in 1998 in Broward County, Fla., on an aggravated assault charge. He served 21 months in state prison and was released from the Wakulla Correctional Institution near Crawfordville in February 2000, according to Florida Department of Corrections records.

A man accused of participating in a double homicide July 9 in Pensacola, Fla., has an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Middletown [Ohio].

Authorities said when Wayne Coldiron took a customized 1979 van from the former Armco Steel Co. parking lot off Oxford State Road on May 18, 1990, he didn’t get very far when he was finally arrested before noon the next morning in London, Ky.

Early reports clearly linked the elder Gonzales with Coldiron:

Reading the actual report makes it clear that it is Jr's friend, according to Sr:

Invasion on 07/09/2009. Gonzalez, Sr. reported that he, along with his son, Leonard Patrick Gonzalez Jr and his son's friend,
Wayne Coldiron, and several black males whom he couldn't name, had gone to the residence located at ^^^^^H
and that he had driven to the scene in the red Dodge van of his son's and had stayed in the van moving to the
driver's seat as the rest of the suspects entered the residence and committed the robbery. Gonzalez, Sr. advised he moved
the van forward after the others went into the residence so that they could get back inside the van faster. Gonzalez, Sr.
indicated he was not sure of who had shot the victims in the residence but did advise that both Wayne Coldiron and
Leonard Gonzalez, Jr. had entered the residence armed with handguns.

All of you a**holes give Ohio a break!

I have lived in south Florida for approx.24 years and went to college in Central Florida and i have been to every crack and crevice Florida has to offer and i can tell you Florida is a major ***** hole!!! I was born in Columbus, Ohio and moved when i was 6 to Florida.We went back to Ohio every winter for vacation and had a blast with the winter festivals and snow boarding etc. In florida you have two seasons hot and hotter HIGH taxes,crime and you’re neighbors right on top of you just to name a few things.
Now we have some idiot from Arizona talking about how nice it is compared to Ohio! look it is real easy to make a statement on how nice Arizona is when most people have not been there…. But i have and Arizona has got to be the worst place in all the lower 48!!! hot would not even begin to explain the weather, dust storms illegals all over the place,Los Angeles gangs that have moved into all major metro areas etc..
Bottom line every state has there problems and make no mistake about it Ohio is NOT the worse

Also Florida has Hurricanes i went thru Andrew in 92 and saw people looting others homes while they lay there dying my friend and i both shot a lotter and paid dearly to the legal system to get of the hook.
