An East Bay woman is desperately searching for her brother who hasn't been seen in three weeks.
Thirty-five year old Josh Palmquist disappeared near his home in Arcata in Humboldt County.
His sister says he suffers with depression and may have tried to hitch hike to the Bay Area.
Palmquist graduated from
Berkeley High School, where he was a star athlete.
"He got really good grades, really good test scores," his sister Amanda Palmquist told KTVU. "He was an amazing athlete, he played water polo and was ranked number one in Northern California."
However, something happened in college that has kept her brother struggling with serious depression, Amanda Palmquist said.
"He hasn't been able to function as a normal regular adult would," she said. "Have a job, have a girlfriend, have friends, he hasn't been doing that."
Amanda Palmquist says her parents filed a missing person's report with police in Arcata and everyone is stressed as they wait to hear from Josh.
"He would have contacted us if he could have. He would have called us by now," she said. "In some ways it's like going into a really dark tunnel and you can't see your way out of it."
Josh's Palmquist's family is asking anyone who has seen him to contact police.
