Not sure if this is the right place for this question... But, I'm confused about the timeline shown here: http://www.sacbee.com/latest/story/2144352.html
If he brought Jaycee directly to the Antioch CA house after he abducted her in 1991, how is it that his parole was not transferred to California until 1999? What am I missing here?

That is odd Maureen---are the courts THAT slow?
This morning on the radio (I live in the area) a former neighbor of his who lived next door to him from 1990-1993 said that he had built the soundproof room in 1990 and had told her husband he was a musician. He'd even shown it to her husband to get his opinion about what he thought of it. So he was living with the mother at least a year before he abducted Jaycee.

Maybe he lived with her but his official address was elsewhere. He got away with what he was doing for long enough he made it his official address?
The prior rape charge said he was a musician too. The musician thing also semi-explains why he's working with inventions about controlling sound with his mind etc. (in a very schizophrenic freak kind of a way).

I hadn't realized that the Antioch home was his mother's house. I thought that it was his actual residence & wondered how he was registering as a sex offender, every year, at that home (I think that I read that he was registering regularly), but still had a parole officer in another state.

So, according to one of the old articles, he lived at 1855 Market Street in S. Lake Tahoe in 1976...
"DeMaranville said the rented mini-warehouse had been turned into strange living quarters. It was rented to Garrido, although his residence is 1855 Market St."
He didn't run off to Reno over state lines to marry, then, he already lived in Nevada. Looks like he lived in Nevada until he grabbed Jaycee, then took her to his mom's house in Antioch? Maybe he kept the Tahoe address for several years, so that no one would look for Jaycee there. When he ended up not being a suspect, he got bolder and went ahead and changed the address to his mother's house in 1999. Possibly?
Almost too much info to keep up on, so this may already have been dealt with.

He married his first wife in 1973 in NV but both had listed as CA as their residence. He either moved over there or was just crossing the lines to do his dirty deeds.
I believe he moved in with his mother after he was released from prison in 1988. I might have the year wrong, if so someone please correct me. TY.

Just thought these things might be useful later as they go toward MO. It seems pretty obviious that he was planning a film. If it was just for himself, would he have "decorated" the crime scene by hanging the rugs?

A retired Reno police detective assigned to the first criminal case says that Garrido indicated he preferred sex by force after confessing the 1976 crimes to him.

Available federal and state parole records show that Phillip Garrido was released from a Nevada prison in 1988 only to violate his federal parole in California five years later.
But Garrido, suspected of kidnapping Jaycee Lee Dugard from South Lake Tahoe in 1991, served just a four months in federal prison for the parole violation in 1993.
Nevada officials were never informed of his parole violation.
“If we had been notified of that we would have done a retake,” said Gail Powell, spokeswoman for the Nevada Department of Public Safety. She said he would have been brought back to serve the remainder of his sentence in Carson City.
“We were never informed,” she said. “I don’t know why.”

Phillip Garrido began as a Rapist DV Batterer
Look at what his wife says, and I also read he raped a girl earlier.
He has slipped thru the system over and over again. If we don't put an end to these criminals slipping through the system more innocent children will suffer.
You want to know why this story bothers me so much. My daughter's story.

F.Y.I. Lake Tahoe encompasses California and Nevada. The border runs through the lake. All you have to do to cross the border, is cross the street signal at Stateline, where the casinos are and you are in Nevada. Reno is not far from Tahoe.

I just looked on my Lake Tahoe map, there is no Market Street listed, so Reno is probably correct.

SAN FRANCISCO — An FBI agent who spent 18 years on the Jaycee Lee Dugard case says the Antioch couple charged in her 1991 abduction were never considered suspects.
Special Agent Chris Campion said the bureau exhausted thousands of leads about Dugard's whereabouts, sometimes with the help of confidential informants and court-ordered wiretaps.
Yet Campion said in the interview posted on the FBI Web site Friday that Phillip and Nancy Garrido "just did not come up on the radar screen."

Yep, it's East of downtown, not a very long street. It's kind of parallel to Mill Street, where the warehouse was.
Current map showing what was 1855 Market Street - now looks like a parking lot.
