He wrote a disclaimer at the bottom informing "punishable by law if you illegally download his copywritten pictures". Well guess what, my son is the QB and was in about 250 of those pictures! There's no password to get into his site, anyone can view them from anywhere in the world. I called them and asked them to make their site private and to give me the originals of my son since I didn't give him permission to take my son's picture. I was very politely told that I am in the wrong & he is legally correct in his ability to snapshot my son since he was playing at our local midget football field - it's public not private. I said you can;t copywrite my son without my permission. I called the NJ State Assembly & was told to write to my NJ Congressmen. I talked to everyone that would listen and didn't get anywhere so I sent an email. I took screen prints of every single one of my son's pictures & I'd love for that guy to take me on in a court of law b/c I know I'll win...heck, maybe even have my son's college tuition paid for out of settlement. His company is nationwide and big. The laws that are in place right now regarding digital technology and picture rights were written many many many years ago & need an overhaul. Sooo, I'm in the process of putting together a professional letter, signed off on by myself and my lawyer, and I'm going to send it to the White House. Maybe I'll get somewhere. I know it's slightly off topic but it's really worth mentioning. Anybody could crop a pretty face and paste it on another body in photoshop, literally anybody, and sell it as child porn. I have no desire for someone to take my boy's pic & put it out there in droves on the internet. If he were in the acting business & he had my permission, that would be different. Now I guess I kinda know how famous people feel about having the media snap their children all the time. That's a stretch, but you get the drift. He's my son and I was literally told by the photographer that I have no rights to the pictures unless I buy them. Stupid idiot shouldn't have put them on the internet and I wouldn't have had access to take screenshots of them all
YOU GO GIRL Tell me when and where to be and I'll back you up.

*We had a local situation where a stranger was taking pics of the local swim team (the little ones) and the police arrested him for something b/c the pic were not appropriate. I think he was zooming in on body parts. Really makes me paranoid about people with cameras. ( I even chased a guy away at a Make-A-Wish event. He set off the hinky meter and was taking pics of kids but when i started questioning him and event reps he disappeared-- the event reps thought he was media ---apparently not)

belleyes,

I have been out since monday and finally had an opportunity to check out this new and long overdue thread. Thank you so much for "coming out of the closet" with your personal insights into children who have been exploited in this depraved way. Bless you for trying to show these kids what family life should have been like. You and your family will ever be in my thoughts and prayers. I wish you the very best as you continue to love and protect these precious kis from EG.

The link to that article says that NC is prone to trafficking because of the highway system.

This is why there is a lot of drug trafficking in our state too. It goes hand and hand.

I drive up and down 40 twice a week. (100+ miles each way). The highway patrol presence in Duplin and Sampson counties is insane (in a good way). There is always someone pulled over by 3 HP, with their vehicle torn apart.

Duplin and Sampson also have some of the largest farming areas in our state and the largest migrant population.

Excellent chat with Marc Klaas last night. I understand Tricia will be posting a transcript of the chat. Presumably it will be in this thread or on the main board.

I'm in Canada and have been researching the missing/murdered women cases in western Canada for approx. 5 years. It has been a natural progression to have an interest in the potential for Human Trafficking to be related to some of these cases. Due to the sensitivity of the research and some of the findings, it is exceptionally frustrating for me to keep a lot of info close to the vest out of concern of being identified. So, I have to stick to generalities.

Because Human Trafficking is of global concern, my question to Marc was to the effect "given an HT taskforce in Canada investigating 2 HT rings, and our proximity to the US and our shared border, are US and Canadian HT taskforces working together on the issue?". Marc's response was that he did not know but if not, they should be. As this thread grows, and while keeping the global aspect in mind, I will try to share from a Canadian perspective.

Bill C-268 is intended to establish minimum sentencing for those involved in HT (believe it or not, Canada currently has no mandatory minimum sentence !!! We Canucks are sooo nice, eh?). This bill recently received third reading in the House of Commons [239 yeas / 46 nays ... am checking into those 46 nay-sayers as we speak. Just kidding ] C-268 is currently awaiting a Senate vote to be passed into law.

For Canadians wishing to see how their MPs voted on the 3rd reading:

http://www.howdtheyvote.ca/vote.php?id=766

Excellent Canadian site for info related to HT:

http://www.canadafightshumantrafficking.com/index.html

Recent article "As Olympic flame burns, Canada's sex industry heats up ..."

http://network.nationalpost.com/np/b...-heats-up.aspx

One well-publicized Canadian case (thanks to a Mom who never gives up hope and never quits) is that of Jessie Foster who is believed to be a victim of HT between Canada and the US:

Here you go: from the link.
http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?se...cal&id=7124225

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The case of Shaniya Davis is shedding light on the problem of human trafficking in North Carolina.

The death of 5-year-old Davis and the serious charges her mother faces is shocking to many, but perhaps even more shocking is the number of children in the country it happens to every year.

There's an estimate that says 200,000 American children are at risk for being trafficked into the sex industry every single year.

Rachel Braver works with the statewide task force called RIPPLE, which addresses human trafficking.

"It's estimated that 600,000 people to 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders every year," Braver said. "North Carolina has several factors that might make it a prime destination for traffickers to prey on victims."
Legal experts say one of the reasons North Carolina is a prime location for human trafficking is because of all the major highways that crisscross the state and the big role agriculture plays in the state.

The agriculture history in North Carolina would be a place for labor exploitation and the tourism industry on the coast. Officials say they might see some labor trafficking in the hotels or restaurants there.

It made me really sick to look at this. Which brings up a really important issue.
I went to a party this weekend and In a discussion of borders and illegals I later added Child trafficking and Shyniya Davis..
This is what I was met with..."Oh ya, I saw that on the Internet, but it is far to harsh so I did not read it" "Oh I heard something about it but it was too shocking to listen to" SO I brought up Marc Klass because he is revered for his work and people do listen..
I was able to get them to say they would go to sign in they like Americas most wanted, they have kids, and they freaked out about child trafficking yes they could not wait o get of the topic and very gently went back to illegal immigration. (did not want to go there kind of thing)
Sadly it must be very hard to bring awareness to something people find hard listening to...WE must keep on trying.
But it is not an easy topic to bring awareness to

A dear friend of mine that I've known for ten years stopped by to see me about some regular question in our lives. During the time we chatted, it rolled around to his past. He had told me that 30 years ago he did things he was ashamed of, but for some reason on this day, the conversation moved into more detail.

He had been involved in drug trafficking. During that time, he had heard that babies were used to transport drugs. WARNING: THE NEXT PART IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!!! He said that these were not live babies...they were babies that were hollow inside to put the drugs in them. I was stunned. Beyond stunned, actually! This is a man who is outstanding in my community, has a lovely home and family, and a humble man. He said he had recently shared with his kids, who are young adults, the truth. That is the kind of man he is - honest and full on integrity. So, that is why I believe him.

Then he told me that there were kids who were sold. He once saw some in the corner of a room, wide-eyed and scared. He said that image will never leave his mind. He sees them all the time and it sickens him and he still has a huge problem forgiving himself because he did NOTHING at the time. We talked then about the Lord's forgiveness and all the things he has given back to people in the thirty years since he became a Christian and stopped using drugs. That is the only thing that keeps him from going mad.

If anyone else knows any stories about these kids who are sold, please share them. Once we know what is really going on, we can learn together what we can do to bring awareness to this evil and SAVE THE CHILDREN!!!
I am getting sick...but it does not make sense, how long can a baby shell look like a child and not like a small mess. (please excuse this espression) I think they were dolls.

The many new tech challenges surrounding the monitoring of old and new sex offendershttp://sentencing.typepad.com/senten...offenders.html

This morning's Washington Post has this fascinating and important new article headlined "Tracking sex-crime offenders gets trickier: Violator registry is growing as tech-savvy predators put a greater burden on officers." Here are excerpts:
The nationwide crackdown on child pornography and other sex offenses has created severe manpower shortages and technology challenges for probation officers, police and federal agents struggling to track offenders who are jumping online with cellphones and portable game systems and flocking to social networking and other sites, where children or pornography can easily be found.

There are more than 716,000 registered sex offenders nationwide, according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, a 78 percent increase since 2001, and that does not include all offenders because some crimes do not require registration. Sex-offender registries have grown even faster in the Washington area, with more than 24,000 people listed....
The focus on crimes against children that began in the Bush administration shows no sign of abating under President Obama. Federal child sexual exploitation prosecutions are up 147 percent since 2002, and the Justice Department is hiring 81 more prosecutors for these cases. Funding for task forces that bring charges in state courts rose this year from $16 million to $75 million.

But many of those offenders are now leaving prison, even as revenue-strapped states are cutting the budgets of probation departments. In Virginia, probation and parole cuts this year totaled nearly $10 million, including $500,000 for electronic monitoring of sexually violent predators. Maryland also has cut its budget. "The burden on probation and parole officers is going to explode," said Ernie Allen, the national center's president.
The monitoring of virtually all sex offenders is required by law when they are on probation or parole. The problem has gained national attention with the discovery of 10 bodies and a skull at a registered sex offender's home in Cleveland and revelations that Jaycee Lee Dugard was kidnapped at age 11 in 1991 and allegedly held captive at a California sex offender's house until her reappearance in August. Officers had visited both homes and noticed nothing wrong.

Those cases underscore a troubled registry system that has been the public face of sex-offender monitoring. An estimated 100,000 offenders do not comply with registration requirements. Law enforcement doesn't know where many of them are.

But the most alarming development for officers is proliferating electronic gadgets and the temptations they pose to sex offenders. A man on probation in Iowa for molesting a 9-year-old girl, for example, was recently caught downloading pornographic images of a young girl on his PlayStation Portable -- while walking to his probation appointment.

Sometimes, offenders cannot be monitored even while in custody. David L. Franklin, a church deacon, pleaded guilty in federal court to sending child pornography to an undercover D.C. police detective. While awaiting sentencing, Franklin struck up another online conversation with the same detective, who traced the defendant to an unusual address -- the D.C. Correctional Treatment Facility. Franklin had smuggled a cellphone into his jail cell and was on his bunk, online, when guards grabbed it, sources familiar with the case said.

I was sick reading this and I have probably posted about 5 times on each case: WE HAVE SO MUCH UNEMPLOYMENT WE NEED MORE LE.
PS: I tried but did not find the original article from the Washington post, but I think this is important information.
SEEMS TO ME the reality of what we are dealing with is worse then we thought.

You treat the body with chemicals, and carry it wrapped in a blanket.
I need a lobotomy, there is too much in my brain for me to ever be normal.

Anyone giving out cheap lobotomies?

Shattered Hearts

Excellent report titled "Shattered Hearts ... The Commercial Sexual Exploitation of American Indian Women and Girls in Minnesota", much of which constitutes human trafficking.

"Police break up sex slave rings in Calgary

Women sold to undercover officers for $8,000

By Sherri Zickefoose, with files from Jason Van Rassel, Calgary Herald, Calgary HeraldDecember"

Can't help but notice the naivety of the comment by "Michael". Certainly highlights that "AWARENESS" surrounding this issue is seriously lacking.
