I know when I move my sleeping grandkids they stir but they don't wake up.

The weather has been so cold here that the kids at our local school don't go
out for recess.
Most winters I don't wear gloves but this year I have! It is soooo cold.
Right now the weather at the Salt Lake Airport is
12°F (-11°C) with a calm wind.
It has been that cold most of the week!

I will see if I can find what the weather was when he went "sledding and
camping"

Hope this helps!
It's been cold here. Maybe it's just that I'm getting older (spent my life in Colorado, western New York, and here), but it seems bitter cold the last few weeks. Honestly, I hate this weather right now. The thought of taking my three-year-old and SLEEPING in it? Um, no - I'm good.

This guy has to be working an angle. There is no way he's as dumb as he sounds. Why would a seemingly-intelligent woman be married to someone who can't complete a full sentence?

It's weird, but I don't recall hearing what he does for a living. Does anyone know? I bet it's something with computers, where he doesn't have to talk with anyone.

When you look at the weather forecast you'll see why people here say it needs to snow to warm up, which oddly did not happen with the snow we got past week. It's been painfully cold.

DomCasual, it has seemed much colder than normal for me as well. I keep wondering if it's because I'm getting older also. It seems to have started this in the fall. And that was after having a very short summer.

I just heard about this case on Fox, so of course I came here as fast as I could. Did anyone else notice the way he kept licking his lips?

He said he forgot what day it was??? Last time he saw his wife was 12:30 am?

I'm trying to imagine what scenario he's trying to sell. He sees his wife at 12:30 am as she's getting ready for bed. Tells her he's taking her 1 and 4 year old camping in the frigid cold?? She agrees???? Wouldn't she remind him that it's early in the a.m. on Monday????

When I left for work this morning it was 12 degrees. Obviously it gets much colder in the middle of the night and it has been that way here the last week. No NORMAL person would take their children in that kind of cold unless they were up to no good.

Where are you (generally-speaking - as in south, north, east, or west - I don't want to unleash any stalkers)? I'm down on the southeast bench, below Suncrest. We get a little more snow up here, and a lot of wind. I went out the other night with the snowblower, and I was freezing.

I swear - every year, I am more tempted to move somewhere warmer. I used to make fun of all the fogies that moved to the southern part of the state. Now, I totally get it. I can't imagine what it will be like when I get older.

Down south? Pony Express? If it is in Tooele it is West. Straight west. An easy hop on the freeway from West Valley City. There is no confusing the two, especially if you live in Utah. Two different areas, two different freeways. What a moron.

"South" would mean Moab, Zion, St. George.

thanks - nana.

When Josh mentioned loading the kids up in the middle of the nite, it made me think of another 'missing woman' case where the guy had his wife wrapped up in the back of the station wagon, kids in tow, drove several hundred miles -- IIRC, he went to visit family & dropped off the kids....I wish I could remember the names but it was many years ago...NEhoo -- it was a case of the kids being in the car w/ their deceased/murdered mom.

Is there a *lighted* outdoor sledding area in West Valley City area? Does this guy really believe people will accept that he took his kids sledding in the dark? Unless of course it can be explained by sledding where there's lighting.

(I know nothing of sledding personally - only what I've seen on TV & in movies.)

Southwest of the Great Salt Lake. Not as far as the west desert though. I was in Draper yesterday and was surprised at how much more snow I have at my house. I've had snow for a month. My DD lives in Provo and she's been complaining that I've been stealing her snow. Yeah, my sis is officially a snowbird and loving it. Midway had nothing over Thanksgiving. Weird snow patterns this year.

article says they are going to interview Josh for a second time. God only knows what his story will be this time. Maybe he'll say that she went camping with them.
snipped

Police say that Powell is not considered a suspect at this time.

Funny how I've heard that said about Scott Peterson, Drew Peterson, Chris Coleman, etc

Thursday, officers served a search warrant on the house and did take items in for forensic testing. They are now waiting on the results.

I would love to know what they took.

He was also swallowing pretty hard too. His story is so absolutely awful that I can't even repeat it. How did she end up with this guy? Was she going to leave him, because he seems liek the type that is not good with women and may have freaked out if she was leaving him.

I have a 2 yearold and I will not even take him tot he store in this weather let alone camping. Also wouldn't a 1 and 4 yearold be asleep in bed at 12:30am? He would have to wake them up and get them dressed.

Also who goes on a camping trip and drives over 3 hours just overnight - to get there at 3:30 am at least - then what cook smores in the freezing cold? can you even start a fire in that weather - do 1 year olds eat smores?

Did he bring milk, diapers etc for 1 year old?

Then he went to sleep in the cold and awoke to then just drive back home?

Is this guy really this pathetic?

A see an arrest ASAP.

Just heard a Fox news interview with a neighbor. Not all that much new info except he says the younger child is 2 yrs old, not 1 yr. old. Also said that there were marriage problems over last year or so at least, as reported to him through conversations with Susan. States that the husband was very controlling, etc. States that he spoke with husband and he was more concerned about not being able to get back into his house than he was with his wife missing.

Take this for what it is worth, though, as this particular "neighbor" was calling on the phone, and sounded almost too involved with what he knew, or thinks he knows!

Any online stuff on this guy? Any mistresses, late night soliciting of s*X? Does he have any fake diplomas? Was he is serious debt? Did he lose his job? was his wife out shining him?

I am off to sleuth.

Because this is a well-known sign, though, someone who's lying may force themselves to make eye contact. However, at the exact point of telling a lie, they will usually dart their eyes away briefly. Also they swallow a lot and have dry mouth. He shows all the signals on that video!! http://connect2utah.com/content/video/?cid=66341

Re: Interview with "Dad"
Between the clueless looks, and long pauses apparently trying to recall the completely inane story he had told police...anyone notice how he quickly explained away why he did not call into work? Saying "I didn't go the Church that day."

Even when I worked a rotating shift, I can honestly say that I have never (in entire life) forgotten that it was a work day. Would be interesting to see if his employer says--oh sure, he does that all the time. And still has a job?

Yet another sad case of a Mother just 'walking away'...from her children, her life, her purse/$, and with no transportation in this case. Uh huh

This is the stupidest, hinkiest story any husband has come up with yet in this kind of case. I mean really? I have taken note that not even anyone in his family has made a comment on this to my knowledge.

I do not think it was planned out as in both Peterson/Petersen cases. The freezing/am/spur of the moment camping trip was simply a dumping trip. As it was been so cold there for awhile, I am hoping the ground was too hard to dig an actual grave. Just have to wait until the ice/snow melts, if not before, with this toolbox.

Thinking of the children who have lost 1, soon to be both parents.

Is it was a spur of the moment thing - there must be some clean up evidence at home, blood clean up etc. Unless he suffocated her in her sleep. Is her coat missing? Surely she would put on her coat and full dress before heading out side?

Unless he is saying she was taken from her sleeping bed while he was out camping. Was there forced entry? Or will he soon admit he left a garage door open or front door by mistake?

hmm - waiting for the next story.
