Newburgh police renew search for missing 4-year-old
Lt. Charles Broe said the renewed search on Wednesday isn't based on any new evidence.
“Based upon where we are in the investigation, we feel it is necessary to go back and re-canvass some of the areas we've covered during the colder winter months,” Broe said.
Please let them find this baby so he can be laid to rest properly...since it appears he was failed by so many, at least let him be dignified by a proper burial...praying for the searchers safety and success!

Broe said city police will have five cadaver dogs with them--three from state police and two from the Ramapo Search and Rescue Dog Association.

NEWBURGH - Police have blocked a section of southeast Newburgh from Colden Street to South William street, using crime-scene tape to limit access to a wooded patch of land west of Colden Street.
City police and state troopers have been at the scene since mid-morning, wearing white paper suits meant to prevent the contamination of crime scenes.

Byrd is being held at Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill, where he's serving 15 months for violating his parole on felony convictions of assault and criminal sale of a controlled substance. He had marijuana in his system when city police arrested him after Marc's disappearance.
Byrd was arrested on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child in December, but the Orange County District Attorney dropped the charge rather than reveal the results of search warrants that authorities say may be important in filing more serious charges later.

Police Find Body Of Missing Newburgh 4-Year-Old
Police in Newburgh found the body of missing four-year-old Marc Anthony Bookal on Wednesday after he disappeared from his home back in December, CBS 2 HD has learned.
Police found the boy's body in a wooded area after reopening the search early Wednesday morning. Police said they felt it necessary to go back and re-canvass some of the areas covered in deep snow during the colder winter months.

I knew as soon as I read they had the streets blocked off and were wearing white collection suits they had found him.
So sad but at least he can be laid to rest now. God bless the police for not giving up on him.
Rest in peace little Marc.
Now they will charge that monster of a boyfriend. I hope mom gets charged too! jmo

Police Chief Eric Paolilli said the body was found by a State Police cadavor search team in a wooded area of the city. The boy's mother, Christine Bookal, has been notified that the body is likely that of her son.
Police had planned on searching the city today now that the warmer weather has broken.
The chief said the body was found in an area that had been searched extensively, although he would not say if they believe the body had been moved there from another location.

So glad his little body can be laid to rest in a proper way. To think it was laying in those woods all this time breaks my heart.
RIP baby!

Supposedly found inside a large book bag so it looks like
he didn't just wander off.

Human remains found; police believe they are of Mark Bookal
Mark Bookal
NEWBURGH – Police in Newburgh have found human remains of a young child and they believe they are that of Mark Bookal, the 4-year-old Newburgh boy, who disappeared last December.
Police Chief Eric Paolilli said the body was found by a State Police cadavor search team in a wooded area of the city.
The boy's mother, Christine Bookal, has been notified that the body is likely that of her son.
She told MidHudsonNews.com that police told her the body was found inside a large book bag. "It looks like one of his," she said.
For now, she said she is waiting for forensics to make a determination.
Police had planned on searching the city today now that the warmer weather has broken.
The chief said the body was found in an area that had been searched extensively, although he would not say if they believe the body had been moved there from another location.
The investigation is continuing.
The boy was reported missing on December 14, 2009, triggering a massive search of the City of Newburgh, its waterfront and the Hudson River.
Police turned up no evidence about the boy’s whereabouts.
The search was later suspended.
The boyfriend of the boy’s mother, Corey Byrd, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child because he was reported to be the last one with young Mark when he disappeared, but that charge was dropped.
He remains incarcerated on a parole violation. Mrs. Bookal said she spoke to him about two weeks ago.)))

Found inside his own bookbag?!? Oh dear God... That poor little boy. When will parents start caring about their own CHILDREN more than their own BF/GF's who they bring into the family.
