A mother is in custody and a neighborhood is in shock. San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus has confirmed that she fatally stabbed her two children. The boys were just one and three-years-old.

The question on many minds, “Why would a 22-year-old mother kill her two young sons?”

The incident happened on the Near North Side on the 100 block of Weizmann Street near Blanco and Basse. The first officers to respond to the scene said they found the mother covered in blood and standing in the front yard. The officers said the woman had a crazed look and immediately asked the officers to arrest her. “She said to the officer when he walked up, 'I just killed my babies' and turned around and put her hands out to be handcuffed,” Chief McManus told News 4 WOAI.

Those officers had to force their way inside the womans house which was already filling with gas. They say she blew out the pilot light and left the oven on. “They turned the oven off, walked back into the bedroom. they found two boys who had been stabbed to death,” said Chief McManus.

Chief McManus described the murder scene as gruesome. “Words can't describe the scene,” he explained. “It was unspeakably sad.” Those two little brothers were lying in bed, side by side... dead.

The Chief said counseling services will be made available for everyone that witnessed the aftermath of these horrible murders. Investigators say they don't know why the mom did it, but she appeared to be shockingly calm. They tell us there is no documented history of child abuse.

On 12/27/09 TPD Sergeant L. Lenzon contacted EJ via telephone. EJ was instructed to make contact with Texas LE in order to confirm that garbriel was alive & safe. EJ refused.

Interesting info from the warrant: Tammi stated on 12/28/09 that Logan threatened her after a court hearing in Judge McVey's court room. Unknown to Tammi Logan recorded the call. TPD heard the call & no threat was made. Logan told Tammi to stop calling him. Logan hung up the phone line. Shortly after Jack Smith called Logan. Logan, once again disconnected the phone line. Tammi & Jack Smith have used the media to make many statements which later later have been found to be inaccurate regarding their involvement in the investigation. Much more interesting info to be read in the arrest warrant! Dates of many things that may be helpful in astro charts!!

I cannot help but wonder if Elizabeth was being taken advantage of by Jack and Tammi? I know Elizabeth didnt really want to be a mother it would appear. She didnt seem to do a great job at it seems she was not given the best example from her parents. I have not heard anything in the news to show that baby G's dad was not a good father. I heard he was young and he was trying. Elizabeths grandfather once said he didnt know what more the boy could do for Elizabeth! I think Tammi and Jack wanted the boy and her statements that she made about the lengths she would go to to adopt him were very telling! The little girl they are raising is a child they also adopted from an "unfit" parent IIRC. There are foster children out there who have been taken from unfit parents yet it looks like these people are taking children from parents they deem unfit. I wonder if Elizabeth would have done what she did on her own? I hope nothing bad has happened to the baby and his father can be reunited with him and raise him to adulthood! I am glad she was arrested and her statements to the father and the threats she made are public. didnt the charts pretty much peg her for what she is!

She was arraigned late Tuesday night and released early Wednesday morning.

It's so difficult to wrap your head around a story like what happened on Weizman Tuesday night -- where a mother admits she killed her two young sons. Mothers just don't kill their kids, but Bexar County has a few women sitting in jail right now accused of doing just that.

In those cases, we're told postpartum psychosis was a factor. That means there had to be signs that something was wrong way before they would have murdered their kids. I sat down with an expert in the field Wednesday to find out what the signs are.

Dr. Vivek Singh, an assistant professor of psychology at the UT Health Science Center here in San Antonio, says we're not just talking about the blues here. "About one to two out of 1,000 child births result in somebody becoming psychotic, which is a mother becoming out of touch with reality," explained Singh. This may be a mother who thinks her breast milk is poisoning her baby, or like police say in the case of Otty Sanchez, heard voices telling her to kill her baby, Scotty, which she admitted to doing.

Elyse Colon admitted to police she killed her sons Tuesday.

Neighbors, like Angelica Puentes, noticed something unusual about Colon. "I've seen her down the street walking with her children and for the most part she looked like she was kind of zoned out," said Puentes.

That doesn't mean she was psychotic. Dr. Singh says pregnant women with an underlying psychiatric illness, like bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, are at a very high risk of developing postpartum psychosis that, left untreated, can last for years.

"So, the vigilance should begin right from the time they get pregnant," explained Dr. Singh, "[What] we should be focused on is to ensure that people who need our help who are going through an extremely traumatic event get the most adequate, appropriate intervention to avoid something bad from happening."

Elyse Maryl Colon, 22, stabbed her two young sons to death, then calmly held her wrists out to police officers who arrived at her home and said "I killed my babies," authorities said.

New details about babies who were murdered

News 4 WOAI has learned that a one-year-old boy who was murdered, allegedly by his own mother, attended a special program for children with delays or disabilities. The Brighton Center confirmed that the boy was receiving services from its organization.

A spokeswoman for Child Protective Services says that the agency did receive a call from a staff member at a daycare center who was concerned about possible bruising on one of the children. CPS investigated and the spokeswoman says the suspected bruises turned out to be a rash. News 4 WOAI is working to get more information on the report that was made to CPS.

In the statement, Brighton Center says research shows that children with disabilities are almost four times more likely be victims of abuse and neglect than children without disabilities.

The statement concludes by saying, "Brighton Center will cooperate with all regulatory and criminal agencies to ensure that the information from the Brighton Center staff can help ensure justice for the children that we lost this week."

I don't think it matters what TS says to LE; clearly, they haven't believed her to this point and I can't see why they would start believing her now that she's lawyered up. This is a guess: TS has left an electronic trail through the internet and cell phones that links her to the adoption underworld, hence the arrest. It's hard to argue "innocence" re: custodial interference when she has left a trail of breadcrumbs leading her to every bizarre route of "adoption" that she could concoct.

In the second day of her federal court hearing, convicted killer Debra Milke doubled over in sobs while watching a jailhouse interview she did with FOX 10 back in 1991. In the interview, Milke described her interrogation by former Phoenix Police detective Armando Saldate.

Milke's attorney, Michael Kimerer, says she was wrongly convicted. "You know, how would you like to be going to the death chair on this kind of evidence? That's all you got? What a cop says happened in a room which he did not memorialize in any way?" said Kimerer.

The federal judge will announce a decision on whether Milke waived her Miranda rights, and send his findings to an appeals court in California. That court could order a new trial.
Milke has been on death row for 20 years. She was convicted of having her 4-year-old son killed after telling him he was going to see Santa Claus.

According to police, there is information that Baby Gabriel, who was last seen in San Antonio the day after Christmas, was murdered and dumped in a landfill.

SAPD said the section of the landfill has been closed off and they will begin an active search in that area for the body.

Homicide detectives have been assigned to the case.

During a news briefing on Saturday, police said it doesn't mean they think the 9-month-old boy is dead. They said the classification is a procedural step needed to move forward with a search of a Texas landfill.

A portion of the Tessman Road Landfill has been cordoned off based on where Gabriel was last seen on Dec. 26 in San Antonio.

I am in Austin and today was sunny and beautiful. The temp is suppposed to drop again tonght and they are calling for on and off again rain most of the week. Hopefully it will let up enough early in the week for them to search. This breaks my heart. I so want this little boy found alive!

Thanks, Angel. I found your map of the father's route to San Antonio, and it is the typical way to go, I-10. Been on it many times. Was just there recently and will be doing that road again in three months.That stretch from El Paso to the Border Patrol station about 125 miles south rides thisclose to the Mexican border. It's really quite desolate. Nothing really but mountain ranges, desert, and openness. Even the roads leading away from the interstate exits towards Mexico turn into dirt roads. It wouldn't be difficult to dump a baby, a child, or anyone out there and not be seen. If it weren't for the busy interstate highway, it would be downright spooky. But of course, we know the baby was in San Antonio at some point. Just thinking....

After talking to an adoption expert who helps the FBI in the world of underground adoptions, the McQueary family learned some startling connections. The Homegate Hotel where Elizabeth stayed is well known in adoption circles. Agencies put girls up there for meetings with families, and to complete paperwork.

“It just seems like it is a place that mothers go when they’re trying to give up their children,” said Lisa Peters.

The adoption expert, who didn't want to be identified, also had plenty to say about the San Antonio Six Flags. “Often girls go to Six Flags to meet with the adoptive family. There’s a lot of people in and out there, and there’s also security there, and it’s a safe place for both the mother and the family to meet, often to bring the child, introduce the child to the family,” said Lisa Peters.

But despite the latest evidence, it is still possible that Elizabeth Johnson carried out her claim that she killed Gabriel and threw his body in the trash. San Antonio police plan to search the nearby Tessman Road Landfill as early as Monday, but rain in the forecast could stall the beginning of that effort.

Well, there is rain across the state today, so the search will probably be delayed .

I did find the following article and it seems there is hope that Baby Gabriel is alive and a victim of illegal adoption. The hotel she stayed at in San Antonio is apparently well known in the underground adoption ring and the Six Flags park she was seen at is a common place for the "trade off". Let's keep praying this child is found alive!

Thanks sooooo much for your weather updates!

It's looking like it may be tomorrow before they can search the landfill. Plus they need to worry about toxic runoff associated with landfills & would need it to not rain for a certian amount of hrs, before they can probably start to search. IMO

The best news would be that Logan finds Gabriel safe & sound.....not in a landfill.....like one too many other cases have ended!

It's time for us to have another happy ending!
The last few weeks there has been one too many unhappy endings.

It does really helps to have locals posting, to help our astrologers & everyone, when they might have ?'s that may come up in a case....from the terrian, weather, crime areas, places of interest, etc. etc. etc.

I don't know if having only the dates, will be helpful or not, with no timestamp included for the ?'s I asked etc.!

#1: I was wondering if on the Dec. 24, 2009, pizza delivery (for more than 1 person), if a chart would show that EJ was with company.......possibly by the names of Tammi & Jack, or Tammi & an unknown accompliance(sp)?

#2: Was this the day that IF she made a deal with an underground adoption agency that they all settled on the terms etc.? TIA

I understand if you don't have the time, or without having a timestamp for the pizza deliveries, that it wouldn't help to find "Our Little Angel Gabriel"!

(Sorry fibro fog brain tonight....along with a case of painful wry neck again! )

There is strong evidence Monday that at least for one night on the run, Elizabeth Johnson was not alone with her baby Gabriel. Tabor Morris is a pizza delivery driver at Papa John's. He doesn't remember all of the people he caters, but something about Elizabeth Johnson stood out. “She was real skittish, she kept the door closed. I think she gave me a five or six dollar tip. Really nice lady. I think that’s why I pretty much remember her,” said Morris.

She may have soon slipped his mind if not for the flier posted in the restaurant. He said he knew right away that the woman in the photo was the same woman at the Homegate Hotel. He produced a receipt to CBS5 from Dec. 21 with the name Elizabeth and her room number 150.

But a second pizza order three days later may better help find Gabriel. The receipt, provided by Papa John's, also lists the name Elizabeth and room 150, but on Dec. 24, she ordered two pizzas, a medium and a large. They had a different assortment of toppings and seem to strongly suggest she was not eating alone.

McQueary has a meeting with investigators Tuesday, and they asked him to bring the receipts.
